Has anyone who has pre-downloaded civ V been able to play any of the sound files? I tried today and have been unable to get any of them to work, even though it says they are just mp3 and ogg files, both of which are suppoerted by my media player.

They're encrypted until "release day". Just like .pdf's and all the rest.

At least we've got the manual now. Plus you can hear some of the music at:

Geoff Knorr

edit: I'm listening to it while reading the manual :)

i tried to play the opening movie and a couple of the other wmv files which are supported by my media player, but it doesnt play.

Even the PDF files in the downloaded content does not open.

I assume all of it is in some way locked until we get the key on release day.

EDIT - Ninja'd by the yank!

Oh, wow, that's some very nice music! :)

It's a traditional patriotic song/hymn here. Music was composed by Gustav Holst.

Also I've heard parts of the "New World" Symphony by Dvořák in the videos we've seen. The second movement for sure. But it's a great symphony - one of my favourites. If you like this type of thing find a decent version on iTunes or something.
