Playing on Earth

I've attached a v.023 vanilla map for Earth 16 civs FFH. But that's not the point of this post. The point is to encourage you to play with worldbuilder on a map that will be familiar to you.

The map's too big for 16 civs, so I deleted Australia and America (why did part of the map end up so dark?).

I've placed the civs where I thought they'd be appropriate, but I strongly recommend taking an earth map and placing the civs wherever you'd like them.

My rules were (warning: map spoilers follow):

Spoiler :
1) Doviello have to be Norway (see easter egg thread -- or not if you wish!)

2) Reading Orc strategy thread, people wanted Orcs near Tundra, so I placed them in Siberia.

3) Reading Kuriotates thread, saw that you want a port city with as few ocean squares as possible in the extended city radius -- placed Kurio in Shanghai and modified the terrain a bit. Kurio AI does especially well.

4) Reading Lanun strategy thread, I decided that Lanun players like a challenge, and placed them in Japan.

5) Placed Bannor in Madrid because I'm accustomed to seeing a warlike woman-led civ there in Vanilla.

Then tried to make it so that whatever civ you choose, the first two civs you meet are of the two other alignments. This does not work perfectly.

Placed Balseraph in Paris, because they speak French.

Placed Dain in Istanbul, to create a passage through the Isthmus.

Placed Calabim in Egypt, because there's already a necropolis there.

Placed Malakim in West Africa, with lots of desert.

Needed a neutral civ in Africa, so placed Khazad in South Africa, with lots of minerals.

Wanted Tasunke in the plains, so he ends up somewhere near Kazakhstan (Cossack-stan).

Wanted the two elves adjacent, so they occupy Eastern Europe / Russia, adjacent to Doviello and Amurites. Perhaps I should have made the Ljo Good but chose a neutral leader.

Os-Gabella landed in India , to be near the Kurio, but has no immediate access to Reagents -- meaning that if you want to be AV, you have to conquer someone early with warrior spam (I recommend Kurio).

That left the Elohim in Persepolis adjacent to many evil civs. and the Grigori in Mongolia mostly because their FFH color is similar to the color of the Mongols.

But this has been a lot of fun. I recommend playing with Earth yourself. If you don't like the Earth map, you could play with the U.S. map or any other earth geo map.

You definitely won't be on Erebus. You'll get the Earth timeline, not Age of Rebirth. But there are infinite parallel universes.

If you're a Fall Further fan, the lizards seem to be somewhat inspired by Aztec and Inca and Maya civs, and could easily populate America.

Another mod civ (Patria) is an actual undead civ, and would work well in Egypt

Anyway -- play with the earth maps. I recommend it.

I've played as Khazad, Sheaim, Elohim, and Balseraphs on this map. All worked nicely. I believe that Perpentech is a more interesting leader for the Bals but put in Keelyn because so many people here like to play that civ.

Thanks to the how to use Loki thread, I did far better as Bals than I ever have before.
