plea to firaxis: suryavarman leaderhead

If you chose Vietnam there would be less worries because you could have made The Trung sisters a hot leaderhead (Imagine two hot woman on the same diplomatic screen).

 im glad someone converted to Vietnamism/Pho-ism TOO!!! Trung Sisters are our Girl mascots!

lol first time a leader head has to people? and there twins? AND there supposedly hot? I'm up for it!

zatssssssssssssssss RIGHT! they're almost as hot as Pho. :D

EDIT: Oh, wait, they werent twins. sisters, though.

I certainly don't mean to sound racist here, but... If I didn't know he who he was I'd assume he was a drag queen with allergies. Not a good leaderhead...

the best way I can describe his face is.....

Gourdish

Yeah, this is a pretty sorry looking leaderhead. I don't see a need to make him younger or better-looking, but he does give the impression of Nosferatu in drag...

It's important to note that when he died he was no more than 40...

Personally, I think a simple tweaking of the texture would probably be sufficient. I don't know that the model itself would need to be reworked in order to make him more... acceptable.

It's bad, but nowhere near as bad as Civ3's Prune Face ("Temujin") leaderhead.

Maybe Firaxis is making a statement saying that they didn't want to add a SE asian civ in place of the Weimar Republic so for consolation they made the leaderhead androgynous.:) ;)

Looking back at my comment and thinking about I am a little offended by Firaxis.

If I were Ghenghis Khan, I'd have risen from the dead and led my horde of ghouls through Maryland in retaliation for that one... ;)

Looks ok to me...Maybe a little too "Chinese" for Khmer but thats ok, its really impossible to know what he looked like anyway.

Well... I don't think he's pretty, but I think he has a pretty cool design :)

Well it's not like any Civ 4 male leader is good looking to begin with. It seems Firaxis only caters to the straight male part of the audience by making some female leaders unreasonably good looking.

??? I thought Firaxis did quite a good job with the LH.
I think his clothing is what makes him appear feminine to our eyes. His face isn't.

Does someone have a link to a Suryavarman portrait that may have served as a model for Firaxis? I can't really judge right now whether or not its a good rendering because I don't have any idea what he may have looked like.

that means i'll be dead. ;)

anyhow, i have a feeling the animation wouldn't be much for this guy, he'll just appaear all peaceful and serene like a Buddha statue.

I'd say they have used this one

Yet, there are many images that appear as Suryavarman II (according to google, my experience on the subject is little, tough), and many of them are characterizations of hindu gods, therefore, you can not tell how much the image is from Surya, how much not... here are some links

Yeah, trying to base it off of busts is like trying to do Egyptian leaders based on their sculptures. Let's just say that artists crafted them very carefully ;) You don't want to be accused of making the king look too fat or too scrawny or too ugly. Not to mention, they mix in some elements of the divine as well... sometimes representing them as one sort of god or another.

I'd also like to point out that he may come out looking a bit better when animated. I mean, this just could be a bad screenshot.
