Hey everyone!

Well I've recently moved on to the Prince level, after being stuck on noble for what seems like forever. I won my first prince game with a cultural victory, so I thought it would be fun to try a domination game.

I chose Augstus Caesar (I know I'm practically cheating with Rome but give me a break ;) )

I conquered Russia and Mali in the early game, then almost all of Arabia, until Saladin vasseled to Suleiman. I'm preparing to go for a modern war, probably against suleiman, but my economy is in shambles.

I've seen people control far larger areas of land, on higher difficulties as well, but I just can't seem to get my economy on track. I'm used to a cottage economy, and I've built them on all of the reasonable tiles(or atleast I THINK I did ;) ) But they dont seem to help out my economy much. On top of that, I'm completely unsure about my research rate, as I'm new to this level.

I would be forever grateful to anyone who would be willing to take a peak at my save and offer me advice, or even just a few common tips for improving an economy/research rate, lest I fall back to my Noble comfort zone :)

Just looked at the save:

1) You are working tons of unimproved tiles. Saying you have cottage all available land is wholly inaccurate. 11 workers for 14 cities is bad enough, but whats worse, you have workers idled in your cities! Put them to work and whip about 10 more. Cottaging your dye tiles was ill-advised.
2) Your infrastructure is in bad shape. Rome doesn't even have a granary!
3) You have not been taking advantage of civics. Revolt to HR (all your military will be put to use) and OR (will help you whip infrastructure).
4) Your tech situation is bleak. 1590 AD and no CS is rough. I agree with teching PP, then trading it around. Also, Suleiman will trade CS and compass for GP if you are willing. Continue to rifling for your next war.

You have conquered tons of good land, you just haven't done anything with it which is why your econ sucks.
