I've tried the console and system tray versions of the GPU2 (6.23 IIRC) and it's saying my card isn't supported or I need new drivers. Have most recent drivers released. I'll just pass on this I guess and just leave my SMP client running.

Welcome west india man! :band: [party] :bounce:

There is a new GPU3 client on the way that should streamline the current issues of AMD/ATI cards. :)

What kind of PPD are you getting with that monster?

It completes a work unit of 50000 (whatever that is) in about 3 hours but I don't leave this machine on while I'm away. I'll keep an eye on my daily average.

Work Units are of different sizes and complexities so that's usually not a meaningful way to measure your contribution. Each WU does have a credit points value though that is a more accurate method of tracking the value of your donation. Most hardware is measured in Points Per Day (PPD).

I am curious because I need to update my video card. :)

Have I already posted in this thread? Nonetheless, I've been folding@home for a little while now.

I plan to but was going to wait for some feedback first.

    Welcome!

I've had to start turning mine off overnight to reduce my electricity bill. I'll see what difference it makes, but my ppd have certainly dropped.

I'll have to look at the v7 client, I'm not currently running a GPU client in addition to the SMP, this would allow me to do both in one and support the new ATI cores when they are released.

Nice, I didn't know there was a version 7 client, I think I'll give that a try. I just simplified my installation a few weeks ago by running the SMP client rather than 2 CPU clients, but to have SMP + GPU in a single package would be great. Seems to have some other nice features too, and I'm looking forward to getting the new cores for my ATI graphics card at some point.

Good idea! Btw, are you able to change and update the team homepage on the team stats page by any chance? It's pointing to one of the long gone F@H threads :).

    Ummm... :bump:

I discovered the foldbeast in my basement a few days ago, and started entertaining thoughts of spooling it up again in the new office, albeit at a reduced capacity given the lack of serious A/C. Which reminded me that y'all were probably still here and I should stop by and say hi.

I don't think I can support this, social security is already insolvent enough as it is, imagine how broke it would get if we cure cancer.

After running the version 7 client, I think I can report higher PPD, rising from ~3000 to ~4000. It's a little erratic, and the estimated PPD doesn't show on the info pane for the GPU work units, but it does seem to be more productive. Far easier too, now that I don't need to bother with 2 clients :).

Wow, the SMP bonus is considerable - 10 units in, then whoosh, PPD more than doubles... :wow:
