Please let me raze cities!

Pretty please. I don't care if someone might want to come along and liberate the fair people of Bucharest, or that the city I just conquered happened to be built at the start of the game. It's deep in the middle of a tundra wasteland with no useful resources and I would be so so happy if I could just see it reduced to a smouldering ruin. :)

Its a design choice. Get used to it. Civ 6 might not have it. But for the next 5-6 years get used to it.

I'm usually one to fully support the gameplay but it IS a real bummer that you can't raze capitals or city states sometimes.

I've learned to adapt, but it's still annoying.

I get there's mechanics involved such as liberating, but they could just make it so that razing capitals or city states gives you even bigger penalties than war mongering in general.

If you war a lot, the AIs start to dislike you in general. If you war on city states, you risk the city states having nothing to do with you (I haven't pushed it that far yet, but I have farmed xp on a city state for so long that it went into a state of permanent war and would never make peace).

You just make it so that razing an AI capital ruins ALL future diplo with other AIs (no more trades, open borders, or anything, not even peace treaty concessions), or that razing a city state makes ALL city states go to permanent war with you - or something. Make it a harsh option.

NO!

That's complete crap!
Just give the normal consequences for razing a city or eliminating a civ!
that's enough!

CITY RAZING SHOULD BE A NOT-TO-DISCUSS STANDART GAME MECHANIC!

I couldn't agree more.

IMHO city-states are there because of game limitation on number of civics. On a huge map I get 12 or 14 civs, and maybe it's due to performance cap, game couldn't handle more so they added that stupid thing called city-states to fill the map with useless entities which will gift you and whom shall be gifted.(It sounds like a plan from kinder garden)
