This is what we do know:

Leader: Casimir III Wiki
Capital: Warsaw (as opposed to Krakow)
Color: Scarlet (background), Caput Mortuum (Lettering)
Symbol: Black Eagle (in perfect world, Austria and Poland would have each others' symbols)
UA: Solidarity (Free social policy upon entering an era)

UU: Winged Hussar, lancer replacement, said to fundamentally change the war combat is played. reliable source says that that it will push units backward, alluding to its heroic charge during the siege of Vienna.

UB: Ducal Stable, Stable replacement, 15 exp points to to mounted units, plus 1 gold bonus to pastures.

Secondary City-List:

Krakow
Wroclaw
Lods
Vilinus (currently Lithuania's capital, was a major city during Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth)

Casimir III was the last king of Poland of Piast dynasty, and died a few decades before the Polish-Lithuania commonwealth under the Jagellonians, so the game might be about Poland before the commonwealth. However, during his time, Warsaw was under the duchy of Mazovia and not exactly part of Poland proper, this could mean that the civilization could focus on Poland throughout the eras and not the late medieval period Poland.

The City list includes Vilinus, and the Winged Hussar is a lancer replacement, not knight. So it does seem to focus more on the Commonwealth rather than the period ruled over by Casimir III.

At least one UU is a Winged Hussar.

The UA is...
Solidarity: Free Social Policy at the beginning of each new era

The colors are definitely not red and white based on the screenshot. I'd say red and maroon.

BTW, nice picture there

The colors look red and black to me, the inverse of barbarians.

I love there UA Poland is like currently my favourite Brave world civ we know of. But boy a polish unit to a barbarian is going to be trouble but I am so excited so they would actually get 8 free social policy's in total 9 if they finish out piety so they are going to be cultural powerhouse. There Hussar doesn't sound great though mainly from experience all previous melee horse units weren't great.

In this thread: People battle over what to call the Polish shade of red.

Now being serious again.
The screenshot is staged, since Warsaw is building a university and Assyria is using an ancient era siege tower.
IIRC Firaxis said that Poland is a medieval-renaissance era cavalry civ. My guess is the Winged Hussar is knight or lancer replacement, it will probably be a stronger knight.

I can't even begin to speculate what will make the Winged Hussar special, but I read in one of the interviews that it has a unique tactical property that will be able to change the course of combat. Wonder what that could be?

(You'll have to try again, I already said maroon. So scarlet and what else now?)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Polish cavalry charge at Vienna basically break the Turkish lines and route the Ottoman army?
Maybe WHussars( sorry Winged Hussar is just too long a name to type, despite being pretty cool) have the ability to rout enemy units? For example if a WHussar destroys an enemy units all enemy units adjusted to him retreat one tile into a random direction and lose 20HP.

Honestly, that doesn't sound too far-fetched. That would certainly be an interesting tactic and a battle-turning effect, and would also sync up historically.

That's my understanding of how the siege was broken at Vienna. And what you suggest would be quite cool.

The Polish Hussar tactic that I've heard they originated is that they spread out during their charge to avoid volleys of musketfire then re-mass right at the end when the enemy is reloading. I could see their ability causing the target to flee half-damaged.

Since no ones said it yet: the UA seems pretty OP. When you enter a new era is the perfect time for a free policy...think of all the slingshot type strategies. Earliest possible tradition finisher, rationalism opener, etc...

But chazzy, policies will have lower costs than before since Utopia project is ostensibly being removed. It will be less OP I think than it sounds atm

It's hard to say. With the Cultural Victory getting revised and Ideologies being something different, Sopols will probably get changed again. Who knows how good or bad this UA is?

Remember when we talked about how the Celts UA would be OP in G&K or that Polynesia's instant-exploration would be OP before they came out?

Yeah, I'm not too worried about it

That's my approach as well. Let's wait until we see the ability used in game, because we don't know how effective it'll be.

Just so pleased we will have Winged Hussars they are so cool.
I loved killing my mates magnificantly painted Winged Hussars with my poorly painted Muscovite Boyar Cavalry, back in the 70's.
