So, it's been almost two months since I made the first poll, which was labeled september/october. Lots of new info has come out since then: Has it changed your opinion - and how?

I voted a 4 in the first poll, and I think that's where my vote will land again. When some of the leader designs started to improve (Machiavelly, Xerxes), my hopes was going up and I thought maybe things were taking a turn for the better, but then the religion design shown in the live stream deflated my hype again. I have not yet had the will to watch the entire live stream, which in itself speaks volumes about my lack of hype for the game. I have also not yet pre-ordered the game, something I would have considered unthinkable three months ago.

My feelings haven't changed (I put a 5):
1. Hype will always be a fun process, but unfortunately it is often more exciting than the actual product
2. AAA studios have been dropping the ball right and left lately
3. They're really mixing things up this time (which on the one hand is exciting, but also very risky)
4. It is very hard to tell how a game, especially one like Civ, is going to be from videos

I'll be waiting until after release and watching closely how the reviews are after a couple weeks. The initial reviews will almost certainly be glowing.

10 then, 10 now.

They set the valid problem-to-solve in previous Civ games, and introduced the reasonable solution. I'm very excited from the Age and Crisis system design. The Civ-changing is minor issue than the other features for me.

The only disappointed part is the number of Civs for each age, but I purchased the Founder's edition so it'll be better soon.

9! Some of the paths are a bit wonky, but ultimately it's not a dealbreaker for me. I'm sure most of them will be sorted out by the end of the game's lifespan, which I hope will be very long. The ages concept is a breath of fresh air overall and I'm really pleased by the civ and leader picks. Have yet to pre-order but that's just a matter of money.

9/10 I'm excited that this is trying to solve problems that have plagued previous civ entries (endless micro-management in late-game, effectively winning the game well before late-game, civs only feeling special for a small portion of the game, etc.). At first I was put off by the civ-switching mechanic, but I appreciate how it fits into the game. Add onto this how pretty the game looks, and the result is that I think this will be my favorite civ game.

The primary negative for me is that it won't launch with all the civs I want, but dlc will address this issue, and I don't mind paying and waiting for that. I'm especially hoping to see modern age native american civs, I don't want them to vanish from the game after the age of exploration. Given the limitation of 31 civs at launch, I think they're doing a good job of balancing civ diversity, representing as much of the map as possible, and including some civs with strong continuity throughout the ages. If the game was launching with 40 civs rather than 31, I don't think I'd have any serious complaints.

If remembering well, your old poll was not labeled to september/october when it was posted. Therefore in my eyes it is still valid, as everybody had the option to change the vote (and I made a change during that poll). I see no reason for doing many repetitions of the same poll, as in the original poll the option to change ones mind is included.

Actually, the old poll was labeled september/october, although only in the poll question and not in the thread title before I edited it today. Either way, it was all along my intention to create a new poll here in november (and possibly a new one when we approach release by mid/late january) to see how things develop. But I agree I should have put the dates in the original thread title as well.

I still voted a 9. Without actually getting my hands on the game, it's hard to be more excited. I see all these leader abilities and gameplay, but until I actually interact with it, I can't really get too excited over it. I felt more excited over the Civ 6 expansions, but in that case I already knew how the game mechanics worked, and how the civ leaders bonuses would interact with that.

And I'm wondering how long before they do another livestream since we have the holidays coming up. Any chance of another live stream before Christmas? We'll see.

10/10 - looks to be a fresh adaptation of the game. Was psyched for Civ switching with HK, but found that game painful bucket filling. Looks much better, era specific and in-depth.
Love the 3 eras and different goals/rewards. A great board-game mechanic.

Will be looking forward too DCL though. More Civs.
Goths-HRE-Germany!
Carthage-Portugal-Brazil!
Aztecs
Hattusa-Byzantium-Ottomans

Hopefully after the game designers see their product live and get feedback, there will be some new Civs that play with or break the rules well

A 7 to an 8...

The incremental features are what's winning me over. Commanders, the age structure, no more builders, less micromanagement. It does seem as if quality of life improvements have spread through every aspect of the game thus far and are increasing my excitement level

I am still not sold on civ switching, and maybe getting less sold on it... I get why they did it, I would still rather not though... Especially with only 10 civs per age at launch, and thus far the exploration age civs are much less exciting than antiquity IMO. It's odd being excited for a game in spite of it's main advertised feature but there we are...

Voted 9 because I haven't pre-ordered, but the more we learn, the more I like. I have some niggles but I remain excited by the prospect of something a bit different.

10/10 hyped through the roof

Up from a 9

I absolutely love like 95% of what we have seen and am so looking forward to some of the "busy work" being cut down (builders, moving combat units, and a dozen+ production queues)

9. Very excited about the novel idea that is civ switching, especially since it comes with a more diverse set of playable civs. Definitely a small roster to start with, but with Crossroads and Right to Rule these problems will no doubt be assuaged. Overall, I quite like what I'm seeing.

Civ7 will be the first civ that I don't buy - and not really because anything that the game has even showed off, specifically (though, I'm not really impressed by anything I've seen), but because as a franchise and a product, Civilization just doesn't offer anything that I'm looking for in a game anymore. Old World does nearly everything I would ever want a strategy game to do, and between multiple DLC's coming down the pipeline and interactive dev support, I don't really need to play another civ-style game.

I voted a 2, I really disliked Humankind - and the whole changing horses in mid stream thing isn't something I am looking for in Civilisation. Also Denuvo. blech.

Having said that, at some point down the track, Denuvo will be given the flick, expansions will arrive, gameplay will be tweaked and THEN we'll see. Never say never. Except I just typed it twice.

Still 6. I like new improvements/districts mechanics and the map looks beautiful but I don't like the fact that Isabella can start the game as Greece. I don't believe in that, sorry :)
