Poll on Firaxis.com

all I asked for was right-click links to the 'pedia on anything in the game. Simple enough to get overlooked with all the rest of the glamor that has to be put in an expansion pack :\

I asked for more early naval vessels, Vikes-Polynesians-Iroquios, Hitler-Augustus-Lenin, and requested Great Military Leaders for building Super-Barracks and Mil. Wonders...

Surely, the Great Wall must be added in any expansion. I'm still under the impression that it must have been left out as an oversight.

Hey, I am curious about one thing. When they ask you to select units you want in the game-they say to pick ONLY four. Is this in total, from the entire list, or just per section. 'Cause, quite frankly, I wanted to pick WAY more. Needless to say, though, that I picked more melee and naval units for the classical and ancient era-and a siege unit in the Middle Ages.
My suggestion was to give players the option to include civil wars on a game-by-game basis (along with all the other game rules). I almost wish I had asked for more powerful naval blockades though-amongst other things (it is sooo hard when you are limited to JUST 1 thing to suggest).
Lastly, I partly agree with Kolyana that-as a priority-I would like them to focus on adding totally NEW features, before adding stuff that we can put into the game ourselves. Though obviously it would be great if they did BOTH ;)!

Yours,
Aussie_Lurker.

This is an excellent idea, the only thing is that when I tried to enter in my email address, it stated it wasn't "valid" because it has an underbar in it. Ah well, I had to use my gmail account. Still worth it

I'm pretty sure they won't include Hitler as a Leader. No matter how 'grate' he made the German Empire there is just too much hard feelings there. Even including Stalin is controversial, as he allowed 20 million people to die in the Ukraine and was a brutal totalitarian dictator, not that some of those ancient leaders weren't.

Firaxis has to be "politically correct" for the prudish American market.

Hitler & Stalin are very obviously two of History's greatest leaders, even though they are arch-monsters of the Dark Side.

I asked for a Religious victory condition of some sort (perhaps controlling all 7 holy cities for a period of time), and Trebuchet's for a new unit.

Hitler turned a ruined country into one more powerful than any nation on Earth, but at the final cost of it's utter ruin...all in less than 20 years. To me, that's not a great leader. Had he left out the last part, sure.

Stalin is a bit different. Although he was obviously another lunatic, he did leave Russia in a much stronger position geographically and politically (if not population-wise) than it had ever been in.

I'd have Stalin in there as a choice, but not Hitler.

1. Yesss : I would like that.

2. That's a tall order.

3. I hope they would not behave like the trebuchet of AoE II, where one single trebuchet could move all by itself (with no supporting army), hide in a bush, and bombard a city like a lone, sneaky ninja.

I asked them to add more things to the ancient-side of the game, since I think that is the most interesting (more Greek/Egyptian leaders, more ancient civilizations, etc.).

In my 250 characters I asked them to add more color to the great people by giving them civlopedia entries, naming academies after the scientists, giving us samples of the great artists works, naming the super-specialists after the originator (Plato's followers), etc.

I actually would be unhappy if they slowed down the time between gunpowder and the more modern weapons. At that point in the game your empires are larger so the game takes longer to play. Perhaps my favorite feature of Civ4 is the way the game doesn't drag nearly so much in the end game.

My Picks (there will be some out there who might think of me as odd, but I release them here anyways)

Civilizations (Pick 8):

Choices that Firaxis Provided:

Babylonia (Considered the Cradle of Civilization by many)
Korea (I tend to favor Asiatic civs)
Celts (Do I have to explain this? Their warrior tradition is awesome!)
Polynesia (One of the best seafaring nations EVER. Plus the food is to die for)

Choices that I added:

Ainu (White native Asiatic guys. People consider their presence to be very suspicious, but it's claimed, with genetics backing it up, that they've been there longer. What could be cooler than a white Asiatic nation running around?)
Armenian (First to invent the Alphabet. A definate MUST)
Songhai (HUGE African Megacivilization. If you're going to include African civilizations, you just about need them, with all their influence)
Ki****e (I didn't know that Civfanatics had a censor. This one should be whitelisted. Please) (Great Egypt wanna be. If Egypt wasn't so popular, they probably would be as popular as Egypt, as Egypt imitated them, to some degree)

New Leaders (Pick 4)

Their Picks:

Egypt: Rameses II (The slaver himself. I'd like to see someone who's not afraid of using the whip. Let's get a little bit of dictatorship within the game)
England: Winston Churchill (Despite the fact that I don't think that England needs a third leader, I think that leaving out one of the greatest diplomats ever was a big mistake)
Russia: Joseph Stalin (I have an evil streak. Everyone gather round and sing the Internationale)

My pick:

Mali: Sundiata Keita (Mansa Musa is great and all, but he doesn't compare to this ruler who started it all. Myth has put him in classes with such greats as Hercules. I'd like to see him bend my tank's barrel on his lands. I'd respond by the appropriate nuking. As I like to say, if you can't beat them, nuke 'em, then nuke 'em some more for the fun of it)

Which Categories Need Additional Units? (Pick 4)

Don't care

What unit would you like to see added?

Why? Give us tools and extend gameplay.

Hehe.. I asked if they would add Stalin and Hitler.. Wonder if they'll do it :p

they probably won't do hitler because it may be illegal in germany under anti-nazi laws. there seems to be a lot of european users that might not be able to legally purchase hitler stuff.

I pretty much polled what everyone else did, except I said that "epic" shouldn't just be a game where it takes longer to do every task, but should be a game that include more stuff. more techs, more units, bigger maps, maybe more micromanaging, but not more space bar mashing waiting for your temple to be built 2000 years from now.:crazyeye:

civ:

celts
babylonia
korea
navaho
zulu
Carthage
vikings
ottomans

leaders
Ramses
Pericles
marcus aurelius
Meiji (my own)

new unit:
dragons (light cavalry with saber)

features:
a religion victory

I wished more bombers and WMDs  and the Finns as a new civ . I also wanted new diplomacy options (e.g. if you attack Civ A's city with nukes, you could blame Civ B for it... muahahahaa :D) and possibility to loan money with a certain interest rate.

Without reading through everyone else's comments (sorry...) here's the headlines of what I asked for:

New Units
Desperately need the Trebuchet back! There's too long between Catapults and Cannons. I'd suggest putting Trebs with Machinery or Engineering, and requiring Construction to build.

WMDs - bring back Tac Nukes that can go in Subs! 'Nuff said.

And transport Helos. I never realized 'til SGOTM8 that they were actuall useful in Civ3 - now I know better and wish I had 'em.

General Changes
The new railroad system, whilst better than Civ 3's, is still... not quite right. I'd like to see it work like this:
- If you have a unit in a city, that is connected by rail to at least one other city, then a new action icon 'Move By Rail To...' should be made available. This will be exactly the same as an Airdrop, but continent-wide only. I.e. the unit(s) move directly to the selected city, and use up their entire movement allowance doing so. Whether moving one or more unit at a time should be allowed - or perhaps a 'Railway Yard'-style improvement might increase the number of units that can be moved - is up for debate / play-testing / balancing.
- If a unit starts its turn on a railroad tile (including being in a city where at least one tile in the immediate 8 surrounding it has a railroad), and moves 'normally', then the 10-move allowance currently in effect still applies.

New Leaders:
Richard I, Ramses II, Stalin.

New Civs:
Babylon, Assyria, Maya, Celts.

yes, I like that idea. that way you can get other civs in your pocket if they owe you money. you should have the option to negotiate a suspension of repayments if they give you something else instead, so you can be a real mean loan-shark type of civ. e.g. ok, you can stop payments for the next 20 years if you give me X city, or X resource, or X military units. Another way to use economic strength in the later part of the game.

Or vice-versa if you want to get some cash you can SELL some military units off to a friendly civ.

I know they are discussing religion-specific UUs over here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=147709 but I think that may be a bit problematic. However I would like the option of CIVIC-SPECIFIC UUs (i.e one of my favourite strategies in Civ II was using swarms of fundamentalists!)
