I want a better interface, the current one has a very steep learning curve, what everything is and does and how to use it. I don't mind going to other screens to manage cities. At least the icons could be bigger, I am not interested in wearing reading glasses to play a game. Or some kind of option to make it easier to see what all that junk on the screen is. I play a lot more CIv I & III than IV because I can't work with the current interface to CIV IV.

Adding state religion as a requirement for building missionaries. So only a Taoist empire could build Taoist missionaries, not just anyone with Taoist citizens.
    ------------

I don't really expect anything aside from the new civs/leaders to actually be implemented, but I guess its the thought that counts. Anyone know why Firaxis thought we needed 47 new leaders for civs that already had 2? I really wonder if this poll is an indication of work already done/being done. They're just wanting to know which expansion to release it in. That does make me sound kinda paranoid though.

More complicated culture model, instead of simple point growing. More realistic industrial model to make empire building more fun. It may include factory growing like cottage, but with choices like unit promotion; special workshop to produce new resource type. Big trade center to exchange goods. Waging war will cost money/resource/product.

Any comments on my idea for being able to merge civs in the very early game ?

Just to repeat it for people who may have missed it amongst the many other replies...

It should be possible to merge civilizations very early on. This would be comparable to marrying off kids. The merged civ would then be a single civilization (rather than the way it is in Permanent Alliances) but it would only be possible to do this if the merged civ had 5 or fewer cities.

The main benefit of this would be to clear some room in areas of maps that have a lot of civs close by. Currently, they just get in each others way and there is no option to do the more advanced diplomacy. Therefore, you can end up with a civ on the far side of the world having a huge growth advantage in the early game that is impossible to catch up with.

The reason I am asking for input is that this is one of the few suggestions that I have never heard elsewhere. That may be because it is a crap idea, but it might not be !

Why not, it's basically the same as civil war vice versa. Sounds good. States could merge or break up - perhaps violently or peacefully. Then there could be an espionage option that would allow CIA-style state-wide revolutions. :D Maybe a concept of autonomy could be added, too.

Requested the Ballista as an Artillary/Siege unit in the medieval era

Requested a "Fantasy World" game mode with mages and mythological creatures

Edit: Also would like to see Civ Specific Wonders (a wonder for each civilization that can only be built by that civilization)

    My votes:

-Pretty much everything except multiplay scenarios, new terrain and new great leaders are priorities.

-Austria (Austro-Hungary), Carthage, the Dutch, Korea, the Mayans, the Ottoman, the Portuguesse and Sumeria (ie, 50% of the PTW civ list, and 50% of the C3C one)

-Egypt, Ramesses II, Rome, Marcus Aurelius, Greece, Pericles.
+Japan: Meiji. (MUCH better than Hirohito) The other choices all belong to civs that have 2 leaders already, and I'd rather they up the leader count for those that need it.

-Naval units for the classical (galleys were WARSHIPS, not transports! Just because (some of them) used boarding as their primary tactic doesn't mean they were transports!), Renaissance (no, galleons were NOT slow transports - they were very much the combat-able ships!), 18th-19th and 20th century.

    -Cruiser as most needed units.

-Naval units (all of them except possibly caravels) should be able to destroy tile improvements in adjacent land squares, to make fleets more important. Barbarians should spawn such naval units.

Fireaxis asked for suggestions concerning civilization V or an expansion pact. I would like to suggest a new civilization series set before the current 4000bc start time.

I would like to see a game set in pre-historic times where the "civilizations are the various humanoid strains that competed to become what we now call human. There would be competition to see which group was able to survive and prosper in their particular climate/terrian and spread their species. The research tree would be somewhat simplified but more basic - fire/group hunting/stone weapons/weaving/spirituality/clans/etc

The endgame or victory could revolve around a scoring system that considered research/territority/domination/??

I am not talking about a fanasty creature/monster game but a serious game that revolves around the evolution of mankind.

    Just an idea!

I hope they release an SDK for Civ IV with a gui program that presents the data in easy-to-modify format. It really looks like a headche to mod without one.

yes, that's a nice idea - should be like a National Wonder building.

double yes! I do quite like to actually SEE my cities sprawling across the land. would like to actually be able to specialise your economy. ie. I have lots of cheap labour and I can bust another civ's economy by flooding them with cheap T-shirts! the 'WARS' of the modern world are TRADE WARS

I asked for a couple of things. New unit should be the trebucht (medieval catapult), but I like the paratrooper idea too. I think that workers built in cities with barracks' should have some sort of defense capability, and that there should be some sort of additional step in evolution of transport besides roads and railways (Roman roads or superhighways perhaps?) I think Marcus Aurelius and Augustus are good suggestions for new leaders. Finally, I know I won't get it but I asked for Canada as a new civilization. Not a bad idea eh?

aside from the obvious (babylon!), i added Siamese as my addition. I want to see south east asia show up in civ =)
For leaders, i added Indira Gandhi, cause it would be awesome to play india with a cutthroat dictator.

i also requested civil wars like civ 1 had =)

I'd overly curious how you think slavery could be "controlled". Slave owners do whatever they want with their slaves, always did, always will. Slavery is a system that puts a group of individuals outside the "controlled area" which was structured by social and legal rules. Their absence is what results in slavery.
I don't think there's anything you could control within a given civ using slavery... would be interesting though to have insurgency of slaves (Spartakus, anyone? :) ) just for kicks...

Yay for Stalin! How hilarious is this propaganda poster: http://college.hmco.com/history/west/mosaic/chapter15/images/stalin.jpg
How can a guy like that not be nice? All the people in the poster seem to like him - how could all of them be wrong? *gasp* It couldn't be a ploy to make us think Stalin was good!
Voted for him mainly because I just want to see the animated 3D model Firaxis makes of him. Perhaps Lenin would be a more respectful choice, but he's just not interesting enough (Aren't my methods of judgement balanced?).
Asked for Stalin, Churchill, Augustus and Pericles.
Ah, and of course, MERRY CHRISTMAS!
