It's definitely a mountain civ, as they have released a teaser of the civ tomorrow, and it showed a mountain on the civ facebook page.

I'm sticking with Inca, although far from convinced. The teaser screams mountains to me rather than coastline.

Changed my vote to Inca because I don't see water the more that I look at the picture.

Meh. If it takes more brushing up than would be required for Mongolia, Rome, Egypt, China, then you're rather making the point you're seeking to rebutt. Being a "power" is a rather vague notion. A city-state can be a "power" in its own right.

Hungary was more none for selling their services than waging their own campaigns. That's what the Black Army was a mercenary company, after all. They are the guys you should be levying *from*, which of course is what suggests they were best off as a city-state. Or maybe that civ's should be able to sell their military services, as some other 4X games allow players to do.

Mind you, gameplay is king, and it's a civ's mechanisms that grant it substance. I would hope that some of these civ's will actually offer new and interesting options for playing the base game, rather than heaping bonuses upon vanilla gameplay. I really liked how the Inca worked in Civ V, with them tentpoling around mountains and terrace farms to create an effective tall civ. Hope they don't have to go much farther than that.

Looks pretty New-Zealandy, so I'll go with Moari.

My gut said it was going to be Mali, but that was last week before we had anything to go off of. I'm going to say Maori based off the globe position in the gameplay video and the teaser released this morning, which, to me, has a cliffy, coastal Pacific look.

In that case let's just have Rome and China in Civ7. Everyone else is unworthy.

Would it be Buda or Pest? The fact that they were once two separate cities kind of defeats the notion that they should be delegated to a single city-state in the first place. :p
    Couldn't resist that one.

I'm not at all convinced of anything by the sneak peak, at least not between Maori, Inca, and possibly even Canada. So I'll stick with my original vote of Maori, both because of the globe position and because of their clear inclusion in the trailer.

Hehh, Hungary under Matthias Corvinus is much better than half of the already included civ-leader choices.
Also, the Black Army mostly consisted of foreign mercenaries hired by Hungary, not mercenaries from Hungary. You mixed up the directions there in your thought :crazyeye:
Hungary/Matthias was wealthy enough to maintain a huge, standing mercenary army for more than 30 years. Not too many medieval countries/rulers can say that about themselves.

Speaking of hiring mercenaries, I wish that some city-states came with some sort of UU that you can build or purchase with gold as part of their suzerain bonus, which might be more beneficial than some of the ones that give you an unique infrastructure to build.
Maybe that will be something in one of the new city states we are getting.
