I have a problem with pollution. Even after building mass transit and recycling in a city I produce pollution as soon as I let the city reach level 13. I am running the 1.17f official patch. What is up?

You cant totaly eliminate pollution, mass transit and rec center reduce it to maximum 2 skull per city which is easy to handle, pollution will appear once in a while. usually i keep 12 worker around my core city( with railroad) to handle pollution strike.
city over size 12 produce polution, airport, factory, coal plant, research lab, offshore platform, manuf. plant.
You can also read previous tread like "pollution is killing me" to got some solution.

Yes, unlke previous games in the series you can´t totally eliminate pollution. This is annoying at first, but you will soon get used to it. I find pollution from population more difficult to counter-effect than pollution from production, since mass transit becomes availible quite late and sanitation is availible much earlier. Every population point above 12 will create one pollution, which means that if you build hospitals in all your cities as soon as you can, you will get quite a problem. Anyway, if you have managed to bring pollution down to 1 or 2 points per city you are doing just fine. Once in a while a square is polluted, but if you automate some workers this is no longer a problem. :)

I disagree. This is a needless micromanagement pain in the ass.

1) There should be no pollution after you have done everything to reduce it (hydro/solar, mass transit, recycling).

2) Why do research labs INCREASE pollution (another posting) rather than DECREASE pollution? Something seems wrong there.
Wouldn't these scientists help to figure out how to reduce pollution in the modern age?

3) Automating workers to just handle pollution still does NOT work right and requires too much micromanagement. Even with shift-P I still have to shuttle workers around, put and pull them out of cities, etc. Shift-A produces too many wacky things as far as I am concerned, especially building roads in the cultural areas outside of the city hex areas. These end up as enemy advancement roads rather than productive use roads.

Did you ever drink a glass of waste water coming from a reaserch lab? Beleive all cancer unducing chemicals are in.:scan:
