The name comes from the original website the PolyCast was started on. Before 2009, the podcast was part of DanQ's Apolyton Civilization Site, which often was abbreviated to "Poly" by many of its users. DanQ left Apolyton in 2009 and took PolyCast with it, but the name of the podcast remains the same.

As for polyamory, I won't speak for anyone past or present on PolyCast, but as a general rule, we don't discuss such matters on the show with the exception of some of the old CivAnon stuff.

I’m just kidding with you. It was (an obscure) reference to three or four years ago, when I tried searching for the podcast in my podcast app, instead of downloading files, and I couldn’t find any feed for it there. Instead there was another podcast, also called Polycast, which was about polyamory. A little later I managed to find your feed, but the other Polycast was still the number one match when searching with that name only.

I thought that perhaps you were aware of this Twilight Zone “sister podcast” of yours, since it had the same name. I never checked that one out, but I don’t think they focused on strategy, that was just a reference to your “with a focus on game strategy” slogan.

When I added your latest feed a month ago, I couldn’t see them anymore, so perhaps they have changed their name.

I’m more the kind of player who likes figuring things out on my own, than hearing other peoples strategy, but sometimes when I am really into the series, to the extent that I start planning out games in my head when I am heading back from work and such, it can be a lot of fun to listen to a podcast with other people who are just as much into the game in question, so I’ve enjoyed a number of episodes through the years, both with you and DanQ in charge.
