The thirty-fourth episode of PolyCast (PC) has arrived entitled "Don't Drink and Civ" (59m59s). Regular co-hosts 'DanQ', 'Locutus' and 'Makahlua' are joined by returning guest 'Methos'.

Topics are:

MODCAST (04m12s)
Is the Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword-introduced Wonder Statue of Zeus overpowered, on Frigates, Privateers and BtS' Ships of the Line, tweaking Banks and Universities and a return to terrain improvemnents a la Civilization II.

SENATE (13m30s)
A CivIV Wonder whirl with going for the Apostolic Palace, adopting a Wonder economy and the five Best and Worst of the bunch post-BtS as per listener request. Then it's onto the use of Musketmen and having a multiple religion spread.

VAULT [NEWS, MODCAST] (33m21s)
Of CivII[/i's development as told by Lead Designer Brian Reynolds, CivIV not requiring great hardware to run and honourable mentions for a previously published Top 10 list of signs of CivIV obsession.

RESEARCH LAB (45m08s)
Three ideas for adding to and modifying corporations introduced by the BtS expansion for CivIV.

MAILBAG (51m04s)
A voicemail describing how diplomacy is broken in CivIV multiplayer and looking back on the show itself for 2007.

Enjoy. :king:

Downloading right now.
:)

Out of curiosity do you download PC episodes from the PC website directly or via our RSS feed? If the latter, do you use a portable device to do so (e.g. an iPod) or via a web browser?

that was a fun one. methos, does your wife think you sounded like less of a dork this time? i do! well, except when you couldn't remember your username . that was a very special sort of dorky, buster. (ps i can get Denniz to review my games for a little while until you forget that crack, can't i? :mischief:)

my favorite thing you said was the reason for your vote in the "favorite guest co-host" poll. i love that it worked! :goodjob: :)

oh and DanQ...
Spoiler :
state property doesn't give you +25% espionage. you're thinking of nationhood, which is in a totally separate category :crazyeye:. that's part of the fun, when you put those errors in on purpose so permanoobs can hear them and go "oh hey, i know more than that guy!" way cool, keep that up! *giggle*

Hey DanQ,

Did you ever think of indicating the release date of the archived podcasts? I was downloading some to listen to at work, but I only wanted the ones released post-BtS, and there's no real way to tell when they were released from the Polycast archive page....

RSS to iPod.
Ah. :)

I have it downloaded, but still haven't listened to it :p I will...soon.
I'm going to hold you to that. ;):p

that was a fun one.
:yup::D

oh and DanQ...
And no one else on the panel corrected me... why oh why? :mischief:;)

True, no "real way" to tell when each episode was released from the PC site itself, as you would need to follow the 'Discuss' or 'Topics' link to determine that. I hadn't thought about someone wanting this reference more than that and no one had suggested it before now. :) I'll tinker with it in the weeks ahead...

Enjoy the show? :yeah:

Just got mine via iTunes. PC is by far my favorite podcast.

iTunes does have the release date on it.

She doesn't even listen to them, though I doubt she thinks I'm any less of one.

That's the problem with cookes (and someone else having my nic). Since it auto signs me in I don't pay attention to my nic. That was pretty funny! :D Now, if I could only persuade Apolyton to remove the prior Methos and give that nic back to me. :ninja:

(ps i can get Denniz to review my games for a little while until you forget that crack, can't i? :mischief:)

Looks like I've found a new "special friend"....

I really like being a guest host, but one of my biggest problems is trying to read and talk at the same time. I think DanQ invited me back for the comedy I provide.

I believe I've already said it over at Poly, but I'm subscribed to the podcasts at iTunes. I don't miss any that way. Plus, I pick up ones I didn't know about, as it'll download the blooper reels too and anything else you release.

Edit: I was wondering if you'd leave the 'forgot my nic' discussion in there. I might be able to persuade my wife to listen to those parts. (expecting to get teased from her  )

That Methos guy is a tool, someone should sh-*BANNED*

Seriously, though. It was a solid episode, I'm glad Kmad pointed out the State Property thing, that drove me bonkers when I heard it, too :p

Hey hey, this is a family friendly thread... :mischief:;)

I really like being a guest host,

No reason to blush! That you had fun your first time guesting, and contributed to making the experience fun for your fellow co-hosts as well, was one of the primary reasons you were invited back. :yup:

... might be able to persuade my wife to listen to those parts.
:yeah:

(expecting to get teased from her  )
I remember your saying the first time you guested that you were already used to it, so... :p;)

"Yes". It was "great" and I especially "liked" the "discussion" of the wonders and musketmen.
