Polynesia bug?

Has Polynesia always been able to move the early era boat units over oceans? I was under the impression that it was only embarked units. I'm playing a BNW game and I currently have the great lighthouse, which might contribute to the bug.

Polynesia is supposed to be able to move triremes through ocean.

It's not a bug. It's their advertised unique ability.

It also works for the galleass. Be careful , if you capture a polynesiane galleass or trireme in the middle of the ocean with a privateer, it will be stuck on blue waters..
