Here's a comparison between the Food cost of growth in Civ VI and Civ VII.
Civ VI's formula is 15 + (n-1) x 8 + (n-1) ^ 1.5
Civ VII's formula is 30 + (n-1) x 3 + (n-1) ^ 3.29999995231628
n is the current population.
These are the results:
Important note: This is not the "population" you see ingame in Civ VII. Every building adds 1 population in Civ VII to your cities. This population does not work tiles, it is not a "growth event". It does not increase the cost of getting the next growth event. To get your "true" population for the purpose of this reference table, subtract the number of buildings in the city (including bridges but not walls, wonders or unique improvements!) from the number shown in the city banner. Alternatively, count the number of rural districts and specialists in the city and add them.
