Looking forward to what tweaks you have in store for Portugal in CE.
I was an audio engineer by education a long time ago; but unless television lies to me, these days all you have to do is say "enhance" into your computer monitor.
I feel as if this is going to be the same case with the Maori: They're so OP that they just add stuff and get rid of only the negatives!
Some of these cities, Goa, Macau, Malacca, Mozambique etc., were under direct Portuguese control for centuries.
Correction, most of these. Thanks for the correction, btw.
One city challenge civs should be the next elimination thread.
I agree with you so much as of now. However, as others have said, let's wait until the April Patch comes.
Goa as a Portuguese city instead of an Indian city would definitely be too spicy
works for me; I love filling up my marae with works of writing!
True. I just feel as if it takes some of the flavor out of the Maori.
Strongly disagree. That, like Kongo's base handicap, just never really made sense to me thematically, as well as just being unfun. Why shut me out of part of the game?
Anyway, this concludes our William and Guy Talk About Pok's Excellent Civilizations Expanded Mod digression.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled Portugal Reveal Video Discussion, already in progress.
Alright, we shall agree to disagree. On topic, Joao III looks like that rich, cool, and smart uncle that everyone in the family loves, especially you because he always buys you your favorite toys.
This is precisely my bet.
The downside to them in a OCC is that if you get too much coast, it might limit your district slots. But yeah, being about to crank out 8 or 10 or 12 or however many trade routes from a single city, and them all being 50% stronger, could be insanity. Suddenly we have a civ where I really actually want to build a Panama Canal to force all my trade routes through to go even crazier.
Hate to be that guy but if next week's patch doesn't fix the bug of the AI not improving their luxuries/resources then the purpose of the Portuguese Feitoria(factory) will be useless.
Hate to be that guy but I don't think we watched the same video, because the video clearly shows that it only has to be adjacent to a Luxury or Bonus Resource in another Civilization's Territory, the Resource doesn't have to be improved.
While Owls of Minerva is obviously the clearest Secret Society pick for Portugal, the Hermetic Order actually makes a lot of sense for them as well - you'll likely be playing on archipelago or small continents, so picking sports for settling that can give you good adjacencies is worthwile, but mostly you're going to be earning roughly all the Great Admirals in a Science-focused civ, and in the industrial era those Grat Admirals would turn into a boatload of science coming from those Ley Lines. It's a worthwhile question how the University would be affected.
The luxury resource, Silk, in the video is improved. As is the Plantation.
But later in the video, when we see the three Naus near Xanadu, the Nau on the bottom is able to place a Feitoria. However, there are no adjacent Luxury or Bonus Resources that have been improved. However, adjacent to that Feitoria, there is Rice within Mongolia's Borders, which also happens to have not been improved. Therefore, the Feitorias do not have to be placed adjacent to Luxury and Bonus Resources that have been Improved, just Luxury and Bonus Resources within foreign Territory.
