possibility of a RoM 2.72 w/o RevDCM?

They dont appear to be doing much about their loop problem and everyone seems to agree it stems from their mod being joined into RoM. Some of us have tried playing with only the core RevDCM but we still get loops. I contemplated removing RoM 2.71 and going back to 2.6 which had no issues other than the common MAF but Zap has added so many units since then that i just really really want to play with.

Is there any way to take all the new stuff from 2.71 and throw it all together without RevDCM? or at least use their older and more stable version that was included with the 2.6 series. i can live without their beta fire support crap and whatever else they added. honestly ive never made it to the modern age in 2.7 or 2.71 before a game ending loop so i dont even notice anything that they have changed.

sure you have a slight chance of finding the bug causing fleet in the earlier parts of the game but i always play on huge maps and even when i destroy every ship in the world in and out of cities the problems still isnt fixed most times. then the only option is to delete a civ. either way you are hindering the AI development and i have had to do this 3 times before my game died in 1800 and the purges have caused AI growth to just stop. i have 1800 points and the 2nd place person has 600...this isnt even fun.

RoM can probably never be made without RevDCM. And I'm not sure it's completely fair to blame RevDCM for the infinite game loop. That problem stems from a naval loop and that code is from Better AI mod.

So, the only solution seems to be a 100% land map ;-)

Seriously: I want to play a game without opening Worldbuilder! My last, very interesting
Eternal Earth game was corrupted by this loop bug and since then RoM is only half the fun it was before.

So, where to we have to petition? I'll be the first (of the 100.000 downloaders of RoM)!
Let's enter the forums - Arghhh!!!!

Better AI or REVDCM, whichever mod causes the loop bug is a game breaker & should be excluded from the excellent RoM

Can't. Better AI mod is part of RevDCM's core. Hopefully, the next big release of Better AI, that came out 3 days ago, fixes the bug. If it doesn't, just swamp both forums with complaints.

I'm not convinced this fatal hang is caused by BetterAI or RevDCM. It hasn't been reported by any other users of the RevDCM core, of which there are many, most big mods use a RevDCM core now. LoR has only had one fatal hang reported since updating to the 2.5 RevDCM core, and this was caused by AI logic with regards to city defense, and is exceptionally rare. Though I have reported it and hope it is fixed.

If you have discovered a fatal hang caused by BetterAI or RevDCM, you should really report it to jdog. But you need to report it in a useable format, remember the guy is a person too, and you can make his job easeir, or even possible if the way you report it is concise and descriptive.

Here is an example of a good bug report:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=8307127&postcount=558

Read it and the post below it. So basically you guys need to compile a debug dll and try to track down the bug and post the save with other relevant data for jdog. If you guys have found a critical bug in the RevDCM core, I'd like it fixed as well. Again though it seems unlikely that a critical bug would be so prevelant in RoM and not other RevDCM using mods if the problem was in the RevDCM core, which is why you guys really need to run a debug dll on the save to make sure it's not caused by something intrinsic to RoM (which is what I suspect).

i have no idea hot to do a debug dll or whatever. zappa tried to tell me but his tester.ini file was 1 line long and just kpet going and going. i ended up doing something that caused my UI to vanish.

I don't think we should be so hasty and just cut out RevDCM. If you did that you would not have the BUG mod, better AI, Revoltions, Dales Combat Mod, Influence Driven War, Inquisitions, WoC, Super Spies and the Advanced Combat Mod. If revdcm was cut out you would not have most of these because Zappara does not have SDK skills.;)

I've played early RoM which had no REVDCM or BetterAI and I was thoroughly entertained by the core concepts of an Expanded Techtree and Expanded bldgs/units.

I rarely play RoM With the REV option enabled(I don't understand it and I don't like my cities revolting because I built a mine before I build a temple etc.). The Better AI is an "under the hood" type Mod so I can't disable it. But I have noticed as RoM progressed from version .8 to when these other parts have been added that the AI will seem to cycle between good and dumb. Right now it appears to me to be in the "dumb" category more than the Good.

Zappara Has put Much hard work into this mod and has always made the add-on/combined Mods as options as much as is possible. To that effort I say Thank You. I am a Core RoM advocate none the less.

I completely disagree. To me, RevDCM IS the core of this mod. If we ever removed it, I would stop playing RoM and go to Quot Capita, LoR or plain RevDCM. I have played with Revolutions ever since the early version back with Civ4 vanilla in '06. I love the concept of revolutions. The game feels watered down without them.

However, I do agree that the AI needs some work. Hopefully, when RoM is more complete (Future era's are filled with holes) we can work on the AI.

Matter of time spent and perceptions then Afforess and I guess we'll just have to disagree. RoM is the Core and REVDCM is the Add-on. Strictly speaking.

I still have copies of RoM .8 and Rom 2.0 and 2.2 ( I had 1.03 but accidentally deleted it :p )

I suppose if REVDCM takes over RoM I could figure out a way to play the early ones with the 3.19 patch. And I'd still have fun too.

all i want is the techs and units. i dont notice any of these other add ons and what they do and i could live without them. all i was looking for was a more realistic progression of technology when it comes to units which sid didnt think was needed. sorry, but for me discovering flight dosnt mean you automatically mater piston driven monoplanes that can travel 100 mph. didnt the first plane fo like 20 mph and 30some feet? and then you go from that to freaking stealth bombers...WTH sid...you skipped 100 years of development.
