The Arabs just beat me to building the Uffizi, but they don't have Aesthetics. Is this deliberate, or a bug?

I spied on the two other AI's that did have Aesthetics and they were racing for the Taj Mahal so I knew I was going to win Uffizi and did not resort to drastic measures to rush Uffizi.

Kinda PO'ed by this actually... I'm actually going to savescum and ensure I get the wonder just because the game decided to arbitrarily award a SP wonder to a civ without the SP, ruining my plans.

If they've opened it but not taken any of the policies in the tree it doesn't show on that screen.

I suppose that is possible, but if they are going to make wonders sensitive to SP's then Firaxis needs to list Aesthstics: 0. This is supposed to be public information the game provides us.

I believe they only list the trees if they've actually taken a social policy from the tree. So if they opened aesthetics without taking either of the first two policies, it won't show up. Arabia social policy choices probably look like this:

Full Tradition
Full Piety
Aesthetics Opener

Yep, it makes sense but I'm going to make a request on the official forums and hope they see it.

I sent spies to each of the Aesthetics civs to see if they were building the wonder, and when I saw that they weren't it changed my gameplay by not using a production trade route w/ production focus. I thought I was free and clear - this also means it is impossible to see civs trying for the Louvre but not taking exploration.

The good news here is that while a human would probably cherry pick the opener of Exploration just for the Lourve with no intention of picking a single sub policy, the AI will pick at least one sub policy next so it will eventually show up.

I do the same thing as the AI would do. For instance, I open Patronage for the Forbidden Palace.

The AI beat you fair and square to that wonder.

I do the same, and also because even the 25% decrease in CS influence degradation can save you hundreds or even thousands of GP.

I wouldn t say square :) I mean yeah no cheat were involved but I agree with OP , openers should be shown on the diplo screen since they actually matter most than the first policy in term of outside information , if only for the reason that you can build the associated wonder.
