[*]1.Cardinals: Quinnen Williams. DT If the Cards can’t find anyone wanting to take Rosen (at a fair value), and I’m betting they won’t since they haven’t already, then they don’t really have a choice here. Their run defense was abysmal last year and he should be an instant upgrade.
[*]2. 49ers: Nick Bosa. Edge This pick all but guarantees the 49ers will have a defensive line that will be somewhere in the top 10 OVR for the 2019 season. Combine that with two pro bowl cornerbacks and one pro bowl linebacker and this is a force to be reckoned with.
[*]
[*]3. Jets: Josh Allen. Edge. It’s a pass happy league to begin with, but you’re in the same division with Tom Brady. In that case, when your passing defense was significantly below average the previous year, you don’t really have a choice with where to go with your first selection. Especially when you have a blue chip player available.
[*]4. Raiders: Ed Oliver. DT. a team with needs all over their defense and this is simply the best player available regardess. No Brainer.
[*]5. Buccaneers. (Trade with Redskins) Redskins: Dwayne Haskins. QB. Tim has me convinced that this will probably happen, though I disagree WHERE it will happen. Should be the same value, though: Two firsts, one third.
[*]6. Giants: Kyler Murray. QB. I haven’t really seen much talk/rumors of the Giants being interested in Murray, but if they fall this far (and especially if the Redskins or someone else takes Haskins first while Murray is still available) I easily see this happening. It’s worth noting that the Giants have a MISERABLE offensive line and while QB (especially a rookie) is going to be good under a miserable offensive line, those who are the most mobile stand the best chance. Even if they take Murray and even if he does decent, they still have to make O-line a priority in the future. For now, taking Murray at #6 gives them the best chance to win games.
[*]7. Jaguars: T.J. Hockenson. TE. The best tight end in this draft? Check. Who is their quarterback? Nick Foles. What is one thing he had in Philly? Zach Ertz. This all but guarantees the Jags will also have a solid, above average starting tight end so he won’t be playing with a lot less than what he’s used to, at least at this position.
[*]8. Lions: Montez Sweat. Edge. It’s a pass-happy league, and this is also arguably the best player available. Combine him with Trey flowers and you’ve got a pass rush that is average at the very worst.
[*]9. Bills: Jawaan Taylor. OT. First, he’s the best talent available. Second, he’s a position of need. Third, you just drafted a rookie QB last year and to salvage his career he’s going to need the best help possible. You nail all three with this pick.
[*]10. Broncos: Devin White. LB. He’s the best linebacker in the draft, best talent available, and going to a team that needs a linebacker.
[*]11. Bengals: Drew Lock. QB. He’s the best QB left on the board and he’d be going to a team that has had more than enough of their current starting quarterback.
[*]12. Packers. Brian Burns. Edge. He’s probably the best player on the board. He’s also a position of need (especially with Clay Matthews leaving). Not to mention it’s a pass-happy league anyway.
[*]13. Dolphins. Jonah Williams. OL. The Dolphins have an awful O-line. I also think they’d be better off waiting until next year to take a QB. Considering they have an awful o-line taking Williams gives them just as much chance to win games as drafting a QB, most likely. Let Fitzmagick take care for a year. The “worst” that can happen is they tank, and then they get to draft Tua next year.
[*]14. Falcons. Christian Wilkins. DT. The Falcons defense was a problem last year and this is a safe pick at a position of need.
[*]15. Buccaneers. Devin Bush. LB. Without Kwon Alexander, this is a position of need. It is also probably the best talent available anyway.
[*]16. Panthers. Rashan Gary. Edge. Could he be missing part of the 2019 season because of an injury? Yep. But if Cam misses out all or even a significant portion of 2019, then that’s not going to matter. He’s the best player available with more upside than any other pass rusher left on the board. Get him.
[*]17. Giants. Andre Dillard. I did say the Giants need to improve their O-line IMMEDIATELY, right? This pick does that.
[*]18. Vikings. Garrett Bradbury. He’s a fair value at #18 and also fills a position of need.
[*]19. Titans. D.K. Metcalf. WR. This is Marcus Mariota’s make or break time.. It is the last year on his rookie contract. With this selection he will have no excuses whatsoever not to put up good numbers. I not only see the Titans picking him here, but I see a phenomenally good offense that will be the best in their division and one of the best in the NFL.
[*]20. Steelers. Rock Ya Sin. A position of need, and the safest cornerback prospect in the draft with a team that has had trouble drafting cornerbacks in the past.
[*]21. Seahawks. Clenin Ferrell. Edge. Yes they will almost certainly trade down but they can do that with their other first round pick. Ferrell is a bargain at this position on the board and while I know this draft is loaded with d-line talent he is by far the best left. They need a Frank Clark replacement.
[*]22. Ravens. Marquise Brown. WR. He’s a good value for this position on the board and also fills a position of need.
[*]23. Texans. Cody Ford. OL. Same as above. Good value for this place on the boardand DEFINITELY a position of need.
[*]24. Raiders. Josh Jacobs. RB. Beast Mode is retiring (and was getting too old regardless). Josh Jacobs is by far the best running back in this draft and it’s not even close. This pick should take care of the Raiders running game for at least the next 4 years or so.
[*]25. Eagles. Greedy Williams. CB. Position of need, and decent value for position on the board.
[*]26. Colts. Jeffery Simmons DT. He may best most or all of the 2019 season, but without that he’s one of the best players in the draft. In the long run, this is the smartest move.
[*]27. Raiders. Dexter Lawrence. DT. Position of need and probably best talent available. Combine him with Ed Oliver and their run defense will go from being a weakness in 2018 to probably average at the very worst in 2019.
[*]28. Chargers. Byron Murphy. CB. The only cornerback left with first round talent. They also need help on their d-line but this draft is stacked with d-line talent, whereas this is the last decent cornerback available. It’s a position of need and a fair value for this position on the board. I don’t think they have much choice here.
[*]29. Seahawks. Trade down. Broncos. Unsure on what the compensation would be. It probably also won’t be the Broncos. Daniel Jones. QB. If Jones is still available here I can really see Elway pouncing. He is the ONLY QB left of first-round talent and if you sit up behind Flacco for a year, he could be a decent long term solution.
[*]30. Packers. Noah Fant. TE. The best TE they have (Graham) is too old and Fant is a steal if he’s still available here anyway.
[*]31. Rams. Rams. Chris Lindstrom. OL. He’s a position of need and would work well in their system. I also kind of anticipate a trade down.
[*]32. Patriots. A.J. Brown. Decent value for this place on the board and ABSOLUTELY a position of need. With Tom Brady getting another year older he’s going to need more help anyway. Yes, Demaryius Thomas and Josh Gordon will help. Gordon is unreliable, though, and Thomas isn’t as good as he used to be, it seems. There are no first round quality QBs left on the board and as long as Brady is playing as good as he is (if he still is), then the Pats are still in ‘win now’ mode. He gives them the best chance to win.
