Any other civ nerds out there smoke pot?
I smoke it 4 or 5 times a week and love listening to music or watching movies while stoned. Also love eating chocolate. Most of all I love playing civ while under the influence. I make some stupid mistakes from time to time but the pot adds to the experience of the game and I get more into it.
I'm not saying its a good drug as it affects different people in different ways. But it makes my life a bit more enjoyable.

I do not perform such a thing.

I think threads about drugs aren't right, especially for the broad range of ages.

To hell with that censorship. By leaving an air of verboten mysticism about drugs, you are likely to encourage young rebellious experimenters.

Besides, don't tread on me!!!

I have never smoked pot, never will smoke pot, and have no respect for anyone who smokes pot. Unless of course it is for medical reasons.

Damn Republican :groucho:

I have never had Pot, nor will I EVER IN THIS LIFE TIME ever try it. I rather keep my body drug free.

Tried it numerous times. Never much liked it. But liking it, or feeling good by any artificial means wasn't my intention. I must have a dread in my psyche against such undeserved self gratification.

What's the point? It points to nothing but one's self.

A "friend" once tricked me into smoking a joint with coke in it. I knew what had happened because for absolutely no good reason I felt like a million bucks. This while my thoughts - my personal morals - struggled against that false feeling. If I can't honestly earn that feeling through my actions, I'm useless. I need my carrots just out of reach. The drug mocks that.

I don't regret experimenting; pot (and certain other drugs) expands perspective in indescribable ways. I imagine most people will gain a fuller view of life by getting high a few times.

Shh, we aren't suppose to say that, children are here:p

I completely understand your sentiment. While it is an interesting feeling, it feels so artificial, and you do not feel like you are being rewarded for anything.

I would prefer to avoid such circumstances from now on.

I think this thread will be closed by early tomorrow.

I also think that if mj legalization were put on the ballot in my home state on a provisional December through April basis it would pass. When faced with five months of winter you need some options, hobbies only take you so far. Even born-agains dabble here when it is negative 25F with a stiff wind (other than Perfection and rm).

True. To set the record straight: Taking drugs to feel good is about the most regressive behaviour humanly possible. It's like hiding in a nice cozy closet all day Christmas day.

The problem comes when they think they can make a 24-7 enlightened lifestyle from it. The word dope has two connotations for a reason.;)

never have, never will- I have a few freinds who do, or for a good deal, did- most of them have gone straight edge, so it sort of takes care of that problem

The smoking of mj is generally not a good thing. It can turn people into lame, senseless, embarassing things, especially if it is done in public. It happens though. Perhaps there is a better way of dealing with it. Many societies have developed party rituals where drunkeness is socially acceptable in a society where it is usually not. Perhaps this is the best way to go with marijuana. In college I roomed one year with a high caste Indian from Singapore who would never dream of touching the stuff generally but indulged ceremonially one or two days a year (the playing of the sitar was always involved somehow, when the straight-edged metalhead neighbor played Master of Puppets on it even more so). Perhaps creating one or two yearly events is the West's best option in the long run. It would provide a social release valve and hopefully add a spiritul element that is lurking just below the surface.
