The FANES II -Preview Thread-

After the unsuccesful experience of the first FANES( it’s my fault, I know), I think I’m finally able to start a new NES.
I decided to start a NES, but I didn’t decide what kind of NES I’m going to start: I have too many ideas for a single NES, so I have to choose.
But as a NES is played by NESers and not by Mods, I think the best option is letting my possible future players to choose the option they prefer.

The first option is: FANES II – The Merchant and The Warrior
The Merchant and The Warrior, also called Orseolo’s World, is an alternate history, composed by a single map, originated from a little premise: Pietro Orseolo, King of Hungary during the end of the first half of the Eleventh Century, is able to maintain its power over the Kingdom, then using the Hungarian army to assert his power over Venice. Starting from that very implausible POD, I developed a map, where I imagined how the world would have been in 1500. I didn’t tried to be historically plausible, and I only tried to create an interesting, multi-polar world.
The Super powers of the period are the Crown of France-Aragon, a personal union between France and Aragon lead by the French King, and the Dual Kingdom of Venetia-Hungary, the child of Orseolo’s policy centuries ago. Other powers are the Italian Federacy, a staunch ally of the French and the leading trading power of the century; the Empire of Leon, the remaining Spanish power, very Francophobe; the Polish-Lithuanian Kingdom, very backward but still a great power; the Empire of the Karaman Turks, an Orthodox Turkish Empire that claims to be the heir of the deceased Roman Empire; the Danish Commonwealth, a union of Scandinavian people.
The map is finished, but the Indian-Chinese part is rushed, as I’m not good with Asian History.
I would appreciate help from Alt-History master as Dachs or Das, and everyone is free to give help with any ideas they have, altough not too implausible.
The ruleset will be almost as my last NES.

The second option is: FANES I – Reborn-
As I found that a lot of people enjoyed my last NES, I also thought I could resume it.
My last NES, FANES I – The Years Of Rice And Salt, was based on a Kim Stanley Robinson’s book, The Years Of Rice And Salt, where the Black Death (1347-1350), instead of causing the death of 30% of European population, it kills 99% of the Europeans.
I have two options to resume it: restarting it, resetting all that was made the last time, allowing new players to carry their own plans freely. The other option is restarting the NES from the last update of the first FANES I, allowing players to carry their plans from it.
I will use the same ruleset and the same map of the last time.

The third option is: FANES II – An Advanced Dawn –
The third option is an Advanced Fresh Start NES. An Advance Fresh Start is divided in two phase: the first phase is the BT Phase, where, starting from on a white world map in 2000 a.C., the players will create their nation, carrying it across centuries long updates. To differentiate it from a normal Fresh Start, during the BT phase the orders will be more focused on the culture itself rather than the nation, spreading it across the world and shaping it, deciding their religion, their habits and their laws. After something like 5 BT Updates, the IT phase will start, a phase that will be like a normal NES. For more detailed or clear (As English is not my first language, probably I’m difficult to understand in some points) information, player should consult Das’ pre-AFSNES and AFSNES – A New Dawn. I know that and Advanced Fresh Start is an hard NES to handle, but I think, or at least I hope, I can handle it. I’m going to use the same Ruleset and the same settings as Das’ AFSNES. I would appreciate if Das will be able to give me hints and suggestions about modding an Advanced Fresh Start NES, especially the pre-phase.

I would gladly play either choice 1 or 2. I voted 1 as it is my preferred option but you can add an extra to 2.

Feel free to ask informations about the nations and the political situation in the Option 1, if you want.

I would love either one or two. I voted for #2, so Justo and I can both say that we each made half a vote for each. ;)

I like 1 or 3, but 1 most (voted for 1).

Actually, I am ever more intrigued with the new map. I think I recognize most of the nations from their colours- however, is the light orange nation with the colony in Newfoundland Wales, or an Anglo-Saxon kingdom?

Years of Rice and Salt is great.

It's an Anglo-Saxon Kingdom, I decided to avoid the Norman Invasion.

Probably. When I made the map, I decided to put an Anglo-Saxon Kingdom in England, but I wasn't sure which of the numerous Historical Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms it would be, but actually it should be probably Wessex.

REBORN FANES!!!!!!

I really liked it.

I'd play merchants and warriors...

I WANNA BE A WARRIOR!

You have a lot of possibilities to be a Militarized nation, especially the Turks (The Dark Red nation in Turkey and Mesopotamia)or the Black Horde (The Black nation in the Iranian Plateau).
Also, if anyone has any questions about nations in the first Map, ask them immediatly, I will be very pleased to respond.

Damnit just bump your old NES and lets drive back in!!!

About the map.

You could add some more nations like: Yemen, Oman in Arabia; some African nations and North-Amercican natives.

Yeah... it's always a good idea to overload your NES with NPCs so that updating becomes a chore.

I disagree Amon. NPC's take little looking after, and are really required to stop the game simply be bland expansionism
