I think I'd rather have 40 cav an 4 artillery...because 4 cav is just too small!!
But, yes, I too would rather have 40 and 40 ;)

Yeah, me too. Well, I would take the 80 and split it into 4 stacks of twenty. I would then send each stack against a different city, but close enough to each other that I could move units from one stack to the other without too much trouble. That's four cities that are gonna get owned! :D

It depends on what I'm fighting. If I'm fighting a few mech infantry, 40 artillery and 4 cavalry. If I'm fighting a bunch of rifleman or musketman then 40 cavalry and 4 artillery.

If you only have 4 cav, WHAT'S DEFENDING THE ARTILLERY?! You'd have one really good turn, but 4 cav might not even be enough to kill one redlined mech inf, and the very next turn, the AI will capture your artillery, and you're screwed.

Gimme the 40 Cav, I don't even need those 4 artillery.

If youre just fighting one or two mech infantries, I think it would be less of a massacre to have 4 cavalry and a bunch of artillery then the other way around.

who needs swords or horses when you got Catapults?
Catapults are the way to go!
Build 40 catipults, 10 spears, and never build more than a couple replacement spears for the rest of the game

but be shure to upgrade your units every now and then, of course

2 redlined mechs can easily defeat 4 cavalry. Easily. Especially if one gets promoted. And again, if you're attacking with those 4 cav, what's defending the artillery? After one glorious turn of pwnage, those artillery will be lost.

one, if the AI has Mech Infantry, lets hope you AT LEAST have tanks.

second, forget wasting those cavalry..., why waste any, if its redlined and defending a city, bomb it with a few bombers, and it will die... and just walk into the city with the cavalry and face no opposition what-so-ever... its what i tried to tell people before :p

Really? I'd rather have 40 Modern Armor and 40 Bombers/Stealth Bombers;)

As said by Lord_Megahertz somewhere, it really depends on what you're fighting. If it's pre-industrial age, then yes, but if it's post-industrial, no way man.

It CAN happen, that doesn't mean it will. And the RNG could just as easily swing in the mech's direction as the cav's.

And again, WHAT'S GUARDING THE ARTILLERY?!

Nothing will attack the cavalry. Were just talking about what would be better to kill some tanks, not stand up to an attack.

Actually, all the question said was, which would you rather have? It did not say that it was just for the purpose of killing a few tanks.

About that, the artillery is used to wipe out anything that COULD attack it next turn, so that shouldn't be an issue, and even if something does attack it, artillery can really screw up an attacker by reducing its life.

Yeah, GOSH Lord_Megahertz! That was never in the statement, but I do agree it works. I've killed tanks with cavalry without the use of any artillery before, so artillery will just make it faster.

Thank you Taras Bulba for telling me about multi-quoting.:goodjob:

All I was talking about was whether cavalry could kill tanks, I wasn't considering anything else.
