@ Shadow: Carthage is a perma-NPC, because their internal politics, empire, colonies, treasury or anything else can't be modelled easily or effectively enough, so I've put Nicias as your first choice.

I'm surprised that Alkibiades is getting less interest than Demosthenes.

I'm surprised that Alkibiades is getting less interest than Demosthenes.

It's probably because people figure Thlayli is going to get it

I'm quite surprised at the lack of interest for Hyperbolus, to be honest.

Qin? what's that?

edit: Kraz tells me that they ruled China two hundred years after this NES is set. Hahaha. :p

More pertinent is the fact that the Qin warlord state at the time of the Peace of Nikias was a decrepit hive of scum and villainy filled with barbarians, and served as a punching bag for stronger rivals. :p

Possibly because very few people in this thread actually know who he is.

Question out of curiosity for those with more knowledge of the period- which allocation of players to cities/satrapys/persons would produce the most historically accurate result? (looking at it purely from that perspective)

Of the things that aren't taken, judging by the applications, I'd say the best and most important roles are:

Hyperbolus (who is an important democratic leader in Athens who stands in a position of rivalry to Alcibiades to lead the democrats)
The Chalcidian League in Thrace (powerful and very important in Northern Greece)
Corinth
Mantinea or Elis (or both!)
Pharsalus in Thessaly (a leading city and well-positioned to lead the League's allies as they try to remove the Spartans from Heraclea, for example, as well as being further south and more capable of intervention in the war than other Thessalian cities)
Taras (probably the most powerful city in Italy)
Naxos in Sicily (which is probably the main state, within the Chalcidian League in Sicily, aligned against Syracuse)
Egesta

Oh boy, nervous about this, but I will try this out.

1. Athamania
2. Taras
3. Chalcidian League in Thrace

I suspect you'll be pretty bored up there, and you won't learn much by doing nothing. Besides, everywhere needs screw-ups. If no-one screwed up, history would be far more boring. :p

Fiiiiiiiine, you have convinced me.

1. Taras
2. Athamania
3. Chalcidian League in Thrace
