Any expert map makers interested in taking this project? Create a gigantic sized (300x300) earth map set before the end of the last ice age about 11.000 - 12.000 years ago?

Something that looks like this, notice the atlantean sub-continent in the middle and the enlarged australia/indonesia, and the way some continents appear in slightly altered positions.. Antartica also seems different, not all of it is coverred by ice. How this could have been is explained here: http://atlantis.w-smit.com/where.html

Its a fictional map of course, but you never know...

Probably not, I would use some creative license and make the ice go only as far as scotland and scandinavia, southern hemisphere not important. Or we could make it just after the end of the ice age, ice starting to retreat, sea levels rising, covering parts of the enlarged oceania, britain seperated from france, scandinavia too, but most of the atlantean continent is still there, and the sahara and other present deserts are still mostly fertile land.

Maybe start with a bunch of pollution (around all the volcanos) so there is some global warming from the start. Tundra changing to grassland works good with global warming (one of the only few that does). It will still look like tundra, but can be irrigated after global warming (think of it as seasons, the North is snow covered, but there are growing seasons). So more usable land would open up as the game goes on.

Those are all excellent suggestions about how to refine your starting conditions. This is all I meant:

Something like 40% of the map you posted would become tundra/ polar ocean and therefore of little game value. Unless you have something special in mind for that type of terrain? Cropping the top and bottom would allow the main body of the map to be even larger (more tiles).

It's "Antediluvian" by the way.

LOL! Good one Steph :)

Cropping is also a good option, I just posted the map I found, doesnt need to be an exact replica. We could remove the top most row and maybe the two from the bottom.

Yea i've thought of that, and I have the map i allready use, lots of changes will be required though, dont know if im up for it :)

Yet another possibility is to have the polar regions represented by the Fireaxis winter terrain, all added as LM terrain and penalized by loosing one food. All depending on whether you wanted to actually incorporated the poles.

That wouldnt work for me since i make use of the LM terrains, but you gave me an idea I have to try out.
