Prediction on Katrina's Deathtoll

I am placing bets now that, once everything is said and done from Katrina and we have a definite death-toll, there will be about 50 trillion websites by teenage anti-bush political blog junkies about how there was a giant cover-up by the Bush administration to make the deathtoll seem way less than it was.

I'd even go so far as to say we'll see some CFC threads devoted to the notion!

Something of this magnitude always has conspiracy theories about it. I really doubt the number of deaths will be covered up, and I read something about how the number of bodies found in houses is lower than expected, so that's a good thing.

Why not? Gators and crocks have the toughest skin, enviable immune system, slow metabolism, and they extract oxygen from air - so I see no reason why alligators should hate dirty water.

I think its gonna happen, but I also think the other extreme end (republican rednecks) will come up with propaganda stories like how the liberal medias tried sabotage Bush's popularity by making up stories about his action during Katrina.

This phenomenon happens in both directions whenever something major happens in the US. The "clan war" is fought in every possible fields!

Of course there will be a huge political aftermath. People like to clash rather than stand together and solve things through actual discussion. To them, it makes alot more sense making the other side miserable.

Something of what magnitude? A disaster happens in the US and everyone is expected to sit up and take notice. Whatever the deathtoll it will be a fraction of other natural disasters, e.g. 1976 Earthquake in china where 3/4 of million lost their lives. Does anyone in the west even remember it or give a flying ....... ?
