NOTE: This thread was in BTS forum, but people told me this place would be better

Hi all, Civ4 lovers!!!!:p

65 millons of years ago I had an idea :D :

I have a lot of ancient Earth maps (10 millons of years ago, 50 millions, 65, 100, 150, 250, etc... with its contintents and references to the actual continents.

If you want, we can create Earth Ancient maps to be played in BTS, with its starting locations (for example, in Pangaea Map, Spain and USA would begin very close, incas will be next to zulues :D, and India will be and island....

Well I don't know about building maps like this though it is an interesting concept. Several interesting problems come to mind, like no Oil or Coal yet, and certainly no horse, pig or cow resources. What could you substitute?

Oh well I did spend some interesting time researching those maps when I should have been working, oops.

sounds good! i don't have a personal need for any of these, but i can see them as the basis for a couple of interesting scenarios people could make.

sincerely,
thomas

Well, if we would be strict, in older maps, life would be impossible (No oxygen in atmosphere, so I think we should do normal maps with their geography.
If we want to be a few realistic, maps older than 400 MYA, should be without forests

It would be nice to play with these kinds of maps. If somebody could make few maps out them I'd play them for sure.

This is the reason I post this proposal here....

Is someone interested in help me to create these maps?

There WAS oil and coal :) a looooooooooooong time in Earths history :)

Remember, its ONLY 65 milion years ago the dinosaurs died, and life on earth is half a billion years old. Lots of years for fossil fuels to develop on earth :)

you use some as substitues eg; Horses could also represent evolved horses?, Get what I mean?, lol

Well, we could imagine that many prehistoric animals and plants could be substitutes of many resources, but before 350 millions of years,...., we couldn´t use this idea with animals, and before 450, also no plants.

Oil and coal,.... until 250 millions of years.

It could be a challenge, but it also could be interesting. Please, help me to create them

i might give making one a shot, but dont hold it to me
ill try pangea ultima

(what size?)

i AM attempting to do it, but i came up with a question: how do you get the game to randomly place civs? and can i get rid of the preset civs when i loaded the map?

im making it standard size, mostly guessing with the climate (most maps show green shorelines with plains/desert inland, im giving it a bit of varitation)
