In 3C3, what factors determine the duration of arnarchy? Besides being religious, of course.

Civilization size is one factor, but that cannot be helped.

I always keep civil unrest and starvation in check, but the anarchy period always seems to last a long time anyways.

Is it possible to shave off a turn of anarchy if you make peace with everyone before starting the revolution?

Are there any other way effective ways of dealing with anarchy?

Well, you can save your game and if you get 7 turns anarchy when you change - you can load your game and change to anarchy next turn instead to get 6 turns :).
(this is cheating however..)

Good. As long as you watch out for starvation and civil disorder, well, that's pretty much all you can do. It's good to have some luxuries so that more citizens will stay happy and work, rather than being entertainers and causing starvation.

Anarchy can last 5 - 9 turns (if non-religious), and 1 - 2 turns (if religious (note: only 1 turn in Vanilla and PtW)). I'll see if I can find exactly how it works...

i have c3c...
i play china (if nation effects it)

sometimes switching to monarchy from depot takes 1 turn (no joke, one full turn then next turn i get back the asking for new gov.)
3-4 turns left the adivsor ususally say.

I got 3 turn anarchy time once when I was non-religious.

this helps alot i have noticed in keeping down civil disorder even in anarchy get luxury resourses alot of um

Smaller empires have shorter anarchies.

One tip to make your anarchy's a bit less painful (however long it is)
1) focus on food rather than shields
2) use specialists to get a bit of science or income during anarchy
