Preview: Irrigation with Ponds and More Variety

Those look amazing :goodjob:!

I really like the "apple-tree orchads"
How about adding a fountain on one of the ponds ;)

I agree with aaglo on the orchards. Wouldn't it be a bit difficult to see (not to mention add) fountains into the ponds?

Those look really good, any possiblity of making a version that doesnt fill the whole terrain square? Like 2 or 3 irrigated spots with clear space in between so we see the base terrain better.

The irrigations are different for the different terrain bases, it is quite easy to tell the difference wihen you see them together in the game.

Plus, this is a fitted irrigation that follows the coast.

I have tried what you are requesting and it does look a little disjointed. As, well I made a set with service corridors where you could see the base terrain through the center of the tile, (did I post those)?

Dont know, you post a lot of stuff ;)
I'll give try your irrigations when you're done with this version, I would also request you dont add any buildings since in my mod (and many others and vanilla too) there are different cultures and different ages so the buildings wouldnt fit well in some areas of the world or earlier or later in the game. The orchads are great and fences would be fine too i think :)

I don't like buildings and fences on irrigation either, as the roads go over the irrigation.

I like to put buildings on the roads and railroads.

I might try some fences on some of the roads tiles at some point as well.

How about adding also some windmills - especially to tundra and desert irrigation graphics? I think windmills are used to pump water from ground...

- windmills looking like this:

Pounder, I appreciate the effort & quality of results you put into these various irrigation graphics. When you are finished with this set, would you consider doing a set of rice paddies? There are a lot of images for inspiration in the original request thread I made a while back.

I could really use these in the Greater India mod I'm working on, and I'm sure other modders like Ogedei & Gen. Rommel would use them in their various Asian mods as well.

I like your idea for service corridors - those are commonly used between paddies. for the water-filled ones maybe you could use a combination of things like the shimmery bluish-green marsh in Ares' terrain set, and the murky brown in the TAM swamps.

I think it looks really cool. :goodjob:

Beware of what you add though. The more specific it get's, the lesser is it's use.

I could give it a try. I made a partial set about 3 years ago for SOA. They asked for a few tiles, I did 3 tiles. This file could be found in my Miscellaneous Graphics Thread http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=111965.

Do you want just the grassland irrigation done this way, do you want the plains and desert left alone or do you want changes done to them as well.

Here is an old shot, don't know if I would re-use those three tiles without some changes.

Those three are nice; anything new you do I'm sure will be even better.

I'd like plains as well (or can the grassland just be renamed?). Hills I assume use whatever the underlying terrain is?). Desert is probably not necessary for me.
