Prices are insane

60 and 90 for Civ 6 regular and deluxe respectively.

We've easily had 15% inflation since 2016. Probably more.

Add 15% and you get 69 and 103.5.

Prices seem quite reasonable to me.

EDIT: I did the math. In 2024 money, with launch pricing:
Civ 6: €76.47 or $78.70
Civ 7: €69.99 or $69.99
Civ 6 Deluxe: €114.71 or $118.05
Civ 7 Deluxe: €99.99 or $99.99
(Civ 7 Founder's Edition has no Civ 6 equivalent)

$99 for the deluxe edition? $129 for the founders edition?

That's a hard, HARD pass. I'll wait a few years. It's not like I don't have lots of games to play.
You're not obliged to get the Founders Edition. From what it seems it's just a Seasonal Pass with extra cosmetics, which isn't too bad.

The price is insane! If I wanted to buy it now I wouldn't be able to.
The price of Civilization 6 is R$ 129.00 (Brazilian currency)
The price of Civilization 7 is R$349.90 (standard version)
It's 220 more expensive, I could buy 2 more Civilization 6, while the FOUNDERS version is R$649.50, insane. With this money I can buy 3 500GB SSDs

I operate under the model of $1 per hour of play makes a game's price worth it. Civ games, every single one, has been worth many multiples of what I've paid for them. So for me, $130 is not an issue at all as I can guarantee I'll put in another thousand hours on this game.

In Brasil, the current minimum wage (defined by law every year) is R$ 1.412,00 (aka US$ 257.68) - yes, for numbers we use coma where you use point, and point where you use coma :)

Considering most imports here pay some hefty taxes, prices usually rise to values between 2x to 3x the base value it should cost in direct conversion (US$ 279.99 = R$ 1.534,23)... so the price of US$ 279.99 will most definitely translate here to something between R$ 3.068,46 (US$ 559,98) :wow: and R$ 4.602,69 (US$ 839,97)!

Even for a civil servant (it can pay real good here, depending on position), those prices are absurdly high. I'm one of them, and my liquid income is of R$ 6.304,22 (US$ 1.150,49). Unfortunately, I will have to wait for a drop in prices AND a kick ass sale on top of that.

I salute those who can pay just the US$ 279.99, and have income that allows for that without issues. Hope you have a blast playing Civ 7 early. :goodjob:

Definitely not just that. Remember the "custo Brasil" (or read my post above). That new Star Wars open world game is costing R$ 500+

I don't care about the cosmetic stuff. Early access is nice but not something I'd go out of my way to spend money on. I see it as $30 for a 4 Civ DLC and 2 leader personas that I seemingly won't be able to get if I don't buy now. Had they listed what the DLC would cost separately down the road, I would be able to judge if this is a better deal than just buying the standard edition. It honestly sounds like a FOMO strategy to me. Had they stated that the DLC is going to cost $30 and this is getting you the DLC+the other stuff, I'd have thought, "well, that is steep for the DLC but I get it and appreciate their honesty," and probably been inclined to pay it, but this, I don't feel good about. I don't feel good about encouraging these types of tactics by giving in to them.

I don't know if Steam sales season can help either. and these are 4,XXX - 6,XXX ฿ .
no surprise, a new game, but from what I saw, newly announced games can only be about 2,XXX ฿

maybe wait for seasonal promo.
well do you expect that folks still playing Civ6 will switch to 7 immediately or will wait for one o two quarters for that?

It's good to get different country costs. Here in Australia exchange rate alone will add almost 50% over the US cost

The reality is that the cost of excellent software development is expensive; especially for such an expansive game as this. If the game is great, then $60, or $100, or even $130 for getting literally thousands of hours of gameplay is extremely good value.
