Problem with the demo

Hi, well i'm new to the Civ games. I just downloaded the Civ 4 demo, installed it all, clicked the icon on desktop, it loads up to checking XML then a send error report to microsoft comes up and closes.

I tried restarting and that didn't work. I really want to try it out before buying because I never really have tried this genre before. Anyone help me?

I managed to fix this problem. I just uninstalled the demo, dumped the unziped folder, and extracted it again and then reinstalled. Durring intstalation I also chose custom install but it didnt give me any custom options. Anyway after doing this the demo ran fine.
