Problems activating Civ BE

Hello!

So, I got Sid Meyers Beyond Earth as a birthday gift, but the person sadly forgot that i had a mac and gave me the PC boxed version. I tried running it on my mac but nothing seems to happen. Is there any way I can activate it on Steam by some sort of other process?
Any advice would be welcome at this point really...

Inside the box is a product code - might be on a separate sheet of paper or on the back of the manual or something. In your Mac steam client, click "add new game" in the bottom left, select the option that you have a code, and enter the code from the box. You'll then begin downloading & installing the game.
