Problems running CD-ROMs

After an unsuccessful attempt to run Black & White (it just crashes to the desktop), I wonder if this is related to the problem I had with running realMyst earlier. Could DirectX 9.0c have something to do with this? Neither program will run when opened.

Well, uninstall DirectX 9.0c and let B&W or Myst install it. See if it runs that way. If it does, then probably it has something to do with DX 9.0c.

Sorry about this...I have no idea how to uninstall DirectX. dxdiag doesn't seem to be helpful on this.

Edit: Well, crap. There doesn't appear to be any way to uninstall other than completely reformatting Windows.

Try this. I just googled it, haven't done any research other than to see if there was an uninstaller for DX 9.x.
