i have problems creating pics for the flc using photoshop....

I get negative coloring, color that doesnt match and duplicate images after i assemble the files with flicster...

but if i open the individual flc in the animation shop, they all show up ok.... they just misbehave after i assemble them

anyone ran into this problem before?

thx

I believe there are two problem here (and I assume you mean PaintShop, not Photoshop ;) ):

1) Negative color, wrong color. This has to be a Palette problem. I generally try to use one original flc as the base and use only colors that already appear in the base file. This way you will not have problem with the palette. Take for example, I am working on a crossbowman flc now and I uses the pikeman flc as a base (crossbowman do dress like pikeman anyway :D )

2) Duplicated images. Count it be due to the delay setting in Photoshop? I make delay to 1/100th of a second and only one frame each is save for the flc. Photoshop create extra frame for each of the 1/100th of a sec of delay. And setting the delay to 1/100th of a sec per frame does not affect the animation in the game too :goodjob:

no..i mean adobe photoshop...i open the ftc in animation shop, then copy a frame and paste it in photoshop, then after im done i copy the frame and then paste it back in animation shop.

as for the delay, its not a setting problem, let me explain what im seeing..

so there are 8 directions...goes something like

SW,S,SE,E,NE,N,NW,W

so you see the thing rotate 360....

what im getting after assembly is:

SW,SW,S,S,NE,NE,W,W

uh....what happened to the other 4 directions.

I never had that problem when merging with Flicster. Maybe you can try zip up your files (the ini, PAL, and all the 8 direction flc before merging) and I will try to see if they work on my PC ?

As to Photoshop, I am not sure where is the Palette thingy in the menu (given up on that and happily using paintshop pro for flc now :D ) but if there is one, just load in the PAL extracted by Flicster and use it to edit the frame and your color problem should be solved.

There is nothing wrong with the flc file. If you use view animation in AS all 8 frame shows up properly. The reason why you saw those extra frame is due to how AS show the files. In an animation file there is always a ring frame, a frame that link the last one back to the first one.

Thats the reason why we can't use AS to directly edit those flc file and this is also why Moeniir make Flicster in the first place ;)

huh?

u lost me there...so you were able to assemble it without problem?

What I am saying is, the file you assembled has no problem (other than the wrong palette color of course ;) ). Try test the unit in the game, I believe all 8 direction works fine.

really...mm..im confused then why when i open other flc in as they show all 8 direction except that one..even if its working correctly..

also, i cut the image to the paint shop pro and then load the correct palette (cant figure out how to load palette in photoshop)
and then paste back to AS, still get the weird coloring... :(

argh....

Only those splited flc files will show without ring frame in AS. All other flc files show with ring frame if you open in AS. So far I do not encounter any problem with the flc after merging eventhough if I open then in AS I still see the ring frame. Read Moeniir's original thread on Flicster ;)

As to palette in photoshop, read Zeb Fisher's thread in completed mod pack section (Zeb created the new irrigation tiles). I remember someone discuss about palette in photoshop there. :)
