I've had this problem once before, reported it to Padma I believe, and heard nothing back about it.

Now, its happening again, so I'm posting it here in the hopes that some moderator or Thunderfall will notice it.

Someone is deliberately making multiple user-names, and then giving my scenario a rating of 1 or 2, and giving it a negative rating in the Poll. This has occurred twice now in the last 5 minutes.

I know who the person is, but I won't state it here.

Is there any way to stop such a thing from happening? I'm really getting annoyed with this, as it could affect other people's opinion of the scenario, since the thread rating and poll are no longer reflective of what real users think about the scenario.

Why are you so sure? Couldn't it be someone not liking your scenarios?

If it is true... Man, that is sad!

Very sad indeed! I think all you can do is report this to a moderator and ask him (or TF) to clean the rating for you (if that's possible, I don't know)...

Maybe you should consider this flattery! That person is obviously jealous of your skills in the creation of scenario's....

It's illegal to have more than one userid for each poster, for reasons like this. DLs, TLs and so on are against the rules.

Best to report to the mods and let them take action. ;) Be sure that you're certain of your grounds though.

Illegal it is. But how to prevent it? AFAIK there is no way to avoid it.

If he is seeing multiple users vote on his mod within a few minutes after registering, he is probably right that something fishy is going on. I could see that happening once or twice (someone downloads it before registering, then registers to vote), but I think if it is happening more than rarely that it should be (as the leaders of the Gungans would say) "pewnished".

Procifica: Sorry I didn't report the results back to you last time. It must have slipped through the cracks. Check your PMs. ;)

In this current instance, I have checked all the people who registered around that time, and haven't found a match to prove a DL.

Why won't you guys ( Procifica + Yoda power) denounce them if they're acting like b@$t@rd$ ??? You're doing them a favor by not telling who they are... or is it that you're scared of them ? :mwaha:

    @ padma
How do u identify the DLers. Where do you find the "proofs" ? ;)
DLers are not always banned ppl so the match between the banning date and registration date might not always work to proove DLs

PM the user IDs to TF. He can make a more detailed IP trace than the moderators can.

Not directed at me, but I'll reply, anyway. ;)

Suspicion is not proof. As a mod, I won't stand for anyone saying "PosterX is a cheat/DL/naughty-person/etc." without some proof to back them up. Otherwise, it is slander. (Or maybe libel, since it is written, not spoken. ;) ) I may agree with their opinion, but until there is proof, it is just that, opinion.
Mods/admin have access to "other" methods. ;) (Edit: See Eklektikos' and Lefty's posts, among other things.)

    Yeah, you killed Postmonkey :p

I loved that little guy and his helpful ways

Ontopic: People who make multiple DL's just for the purpose of polls are sad, because you have to go to the hassle of setting up multiple internet addresses and then actaully log-in and log-out.

You should just accept that you can't always win :p

How do you vote on the polls?

I could do a few votes to bolster my scenario rating :D

Thread ratings are gone from all the files forum now. We will no longer have people creating new accounts just to give their own files a 5 rating, and their competitions a lowly 1 rating.

Bummer, the ratings are gone, and that means some twerps were DLing. If you need 30 posts for title change, maybe you should have to have 30 posts, SPAM not included, to take part in those polls.

Now, I guess, it will be a lot harder to decide which scenarios to open and to download. :( I was dependent on those ratings to gauge whether it was worth it to open up the thread and then decide to download it.
