Procylon's Call to Power Project

Okay, it seems I missed the post on social policies. Here are some revised suggestions.

Gov Ideologies
You had the same idea as me. Go on wikipedia and look at the concepts/ideas of them.

Paratrooper - Which era are you looking at implementing Marines? They technically originate from the beginnings of American history and I am sure other nations had the concept before then.
I was thinking about modern era. I know they have been around since 1775, but in some other Civ games, the modern infantry was called marine. I just really think there should be some modern infantry, and also make it so mechanized infantry requires aluminum.

New V9.

77 Various minor bug fixes that have been mentioned in the past week or so.
78 Various small balance changes and tech tree optimizations.
79 Update to Tech Pages mod by FiresForever focusing on performance and tech pipe fixes.
As of January 24

The branches are statically placed in the order they were on your list, when you get everything figured out and implemented then i would have to go in and manually move the branches around to how you want them.

Sounds good.

For me they don't really fit as a replacement for standard infantry. But I will definitely get them in the game in one form or another.

Hopefully I can find enough source history to create a line of marines reaching far back in the past, even before 1775.

Odd. Are you sure you didn't accidentally turn them off?

no i turned ruins of, but after that i cleaned the modfolder, and the barbs are back again.:)

I haven't heard other reports about Galileo's Telescope. Could be something else with the beginning of a new turn that is crashing it. What if you start back a few saves and get a Great Engineer? You might have to use FireTuner to do it though. If you build the Telescope and it changes the outcome, it could give some good info.

Sorry but all my savegames from turn 174-179 are bad. I can not load this game anymore.:( Maybe there is a problem with my civ5version, after the ctd something(20MB) could not be find with steam. After update i tried again, ctd and steam said to me my game is incomplete. Thanks for the quick answers.
BTW i love this mod:goodjob:

I think instead of "no religion" you should pick a real world religion for the 10th religious social policy. Shintoism could essentially be covered by Buddhism/State Divinity, which leaves Sikhism and Jainism as the world's largest organized religions that aren't covered thus far. I'd rather just let Hinduism cover the religions of the Indian subcontinent and include one of the early polytheistic faiths, like the Hellenistic or Egyptian religions.

State Divinity will be something akin to the ruler being characterized as god or a god. Similar to the Egyptians in some respects.

Here are a few pictures to fill in for State Divinity. The first is an Egyptian pharoah with a God-like sheen. The second is Augustus Ceasar; he was named a god after his death. The last is the Statue of Zeus; several greek rulers (Alex for example) claimed they were descended from the gods to further their authority.

My favorite is the statue of Augustus (go Rome!). It is pretty specific to Rome, but the basic concept can be applied to any ruler who claimed divine power. I think the picture of Zeus would make the best background picture. The pharoah image is definately the most general of the three. Which do you think is best?

alternatively, if you'd want to use a more modern god king....

Just as a heads up i have been thinking of new ideas/features to get working on after i finish the social pages (end of this week hopefully).

So the next thing i will be working on is a simple system that lets you choose to begin 0, 200, 500, 1000 turns etc into a game, with the ai playing the game up until your chosen starting time at which point you then take control (assuming your chosen civilization hasn't already been destroyed).

After that i will be adding (hopefully) a casino into the game, i always wanted to play a game of slots or poker to make more money (or lose everything) for my civ

While on the subject of totalitarian art...
Here is a potential pic for fascism, totalitarianism, or imperialism. Its a propaganda piece called Hitler at the front.

Also, here is a lovely picture of children giving flowers to Stalin. Maybe it could work for totalitarianism?

Are you sure to put this murders, and enemies of mankind, into this mod?:nuke:
Many people may not agree with this propaganda pics.:scan:

I don't understand your concerns.

When it comes to putting murderers and enemies of mankind in the mod... they are already in the base game! Most of the leaders in vanilla Civ 5 would probably be considered war criminals if they were alive today. Genghis and Alexander were certainly "the enemies of mankind" in the minds of those they conquered. Stalin and Mao have even been included as leaders in various iterations of the series.

What do you mean when you say that many people may not agree with these pics? Do you mean they'd be opposed to their use in the mod? Or that they disagree with the propaganda?

Anyway, these are merely suggestions for images for social policies. Totalitarianism and imperialism are social policies in the mod. What better way to depict these ideas than by using some of the propaganda art from those regimes?

edit: Were you talking about Hitler specifically? Maybe its best to use a different picture given European sensitivities (and laws).

Stalin, Hitler an even Mao killed more than 100 million people maybe 300. I think there is no need to use them, its a shame to discuss this:blush:

Well, I agree that they were all terrible despots who were each individually responsible for the deaths of millions of people.

I get the impression that you think using propaganda art from these regimes for a pic on a social policy page equals an endorsement of mass murderers. I certainly don't mean to endorse or glorify these individuals or their political systems.

I certainly agree about not including Hitler. The fact remains that he remains a painful and polarizing figure to this day.

Honestly, I think it would be a terrible mistake to use portraits of any specific leader to represent an entire government. As always, generic symbolism gives a cleaner look.

will this mod have the planet view when zooming out all the way like in civ4. I heard civ5 did away with the planet view. I assume the planet view is being implemented into this mod for space colonies/space cities. Am I right? I'd actually like to see the planet view like in civ4 being implemented into other mods about the industrial age or modern age as well.
