"Timbaland / Nelly Furtado ripped off the demoscene?"

Ripping free music and not even asking the author's permission. :thumbdown
I decided to spread the word here even though I doubt people here could care less. It's just that the scene music has always been very close to my heart and this kind of thing really boils my blood.

    That's awful. But hey,

    Ripping other's music is low,

    - but not as low as Glocalnet.

As a musician and a fan of demoscene music, this really pisses me off. Taking others work, claim it as your own and then make some bucks with it is just plain wrong.

    It's hip hop.

It's about sampling. Yeah, he shoulda given some cred for sure, but recognizing good music is as important to musicianship as creating it.

Sampling, maybe. But still Tempest should have been credited properly. "Do It" seems to be entirely based on the Acidjazzed evening. So some credit would be nice, because without Acidjazzed evening the whole song wouldn't even exist. And the revenue from the song wouldn't exist. So basically it's making money from someone elses talent. Is that right? No.

It's a bad excuse for breaking copyrights.

I say it's ripping off... and I say let's all be glad for the Internet, because it's getting harder and harder to rip things off like that. 20 years ago he could have gotten away with it. BUt now with the video on youtube? He's screwed.

Well yeah Tempest should have been creditted, but I'm not a big fan of how copyrights work so I'm really not that upset.

    Radio interview of Timbaland.

    Link to the audio file.

    So basically. "I don't know".
Well as a producer, maybe it's your job to find out. After all you wouldn't be in the middle of this mess if you did your job properly.
It seems he really doesn't care where his stuff comes from.

I've seen the following a lot in other forums.

    - Tempest should thank timba for making his tune known.

Did Timbaland really make Tempest or Acidjazzed evening famous as there was no mention of them whatsoever on the cover of "Loose"?

    - It's just sampling, everybody does that.

Well, that certainly makes it right doesn't it. Usually you ask permission and pay for the parts you use.

    - The song was free. Why should timba pay anything.

Even then it's copyrighted. You can't just take it and claim it as your own.

Somebody sounds like an idiot... people really shouldn't do interviews if they can't articulate themselves, moderately at best, it just makes them sound stupider than they probably are. Doesn't matter if you're a 'producer' or the 'president', how can an interview like that be taken seriously?

    I hope the opposite.

I hope the creator of this music takes Timberland (WTF kind of name is that anyway, I bet his dumb ass doesn't even get royalties from the boot company) to the cleaners.

That interview is ridiculous, what's wrong with this guy? He takes the melody from a other musician and then calls him a jerk. :(
