Has anyone figured out what the yield for the various district projects are? The game is entirely cryptic about it.

And, perhaps more importantly, do people think they're worth it? Districts are expensive and great people points hard to come by, projects seem like a good way to hyper focus some cities

they are great if you have productive cities. So they also are only alternative to build units at some point

I find them useful for generating great person points. Gold output can be useful too. I don't feel like they are worth doing just for the Culture or Science yields though.

Am I right in thinking that projects are basically the replacement for making your cities produce Gold or Science, as you could do in Civ V?

If you have a good production city and you don't need more units, projects can be really helpful when you need to boost other things and need more GP points. I used the theater project a lot in my game as America since I was going for a culture victory.

Same here, they can really win GP point races. Additionally, it's actually quite a good "default" option because in specialised science/gold/culture cities, the production is abysmal late game, making building units kind of a no-go and it's better than building random districts that the city doesn't really need.

I'm slightly behind on generating Great Artist points relative to my nearest rival so have a project running in Sparta to correct the problem - they do seem a very situational boost, but I like that and the fact that they're limited-duration rather than fire-and-forget like resource farming in Civs IV and V.
