First time i have reached +100 on the Armageddon counter and must say bravo to FfH team :goodjob:

The Illians have been pumping out units from a Prophecy of Ragnarok town and finally caused our collective demise. My question is: Apart from the +8 culture and +2 great prophet - why would anybody (human or AI) want to build this wonder?

I understand the principle of the Armegeddon counter and it is a great game device, but do some AI races actually want to start the end of the world? - do they even understand the counter is ticking and act accordingly?

Anyway - once again - fantastic! Just posting in a short break as the Avatar of Wrath heads towards my frontier towns, my gallant few are assembled for the final fight.....

If summoning Hyborem and his crew is something a player or the AI are interested in doing, then it behooves you to up the AC. Infernal units get bonuses on hell terrain, and only units with a 40% fire resistance or higher (or infernals of course) can pass through burning sands terrain. Finally, the stigmata promotion gives a unit a percentage bonus equal to half the AC. I'll take a 50% bonus any day. :)

I'm of the opinion that the Sheaim certainly do want to bring about the end of the world, but I don't know how the AI is programmed to deal with or react to the AC.

Yeah, I built Abashi once with Stigmata. Unfortunately, the game was already well in hand so I didn't really get a chance to wreak havoc with that combo.

Yeah the Sheaim (and the Infernals) are the most inclined to want to drive the AC. In particular the Sheaim's Planar Gate has a higher chance of producing units and will support a larger number of units at once if the AC is higher.

But there are some interesting Turtle/AC strategies where your goal is to cause as much world destruction is possible and trust that your defensive civ can withstand the onslaught better than others. I've tried this both with the Khazad and the Elohim and its a decent strategy (off that the Elohim make a particuarly nasty AC runner).

But the most deadly civ to use the Turtle/AC strategy is one you might not guess, the Kuriotates (at least in version 0.23 where sprawling works). Their city limitation is mitigated when the world is scrambling to guard their vast empires. And the supercity production gives them the biggest bang for the buck on whats left.

The truth is that FfH has a ton of options, which can be daunting. But once you get a handle on everything thats available there is an even deeper strategic layer for how you want to put those parts together. Welcome to Erebus!

I just completed an interesting game (with raging barbs) where Perpentach created the Prophecy, then got wiped out. I didn't find out until later in the game when I went to his (former) continent and saw a barb city with at least two dozen archers with prophecy marks. :)

do prophecy marked units produce manes when killed ???

as they raise the AC, they should be considered as evil, no?

Ooh! That would be terrible, and awesome all at the same time! :p

I never even considered what happens if barbs take the city where the Prohecy of Ragnarok was built.
