Since the poll's on city construction are mainly a regional level ,and arn't inviting to the voter's to set a goal on wonder building adequatly (ega. wonder building vote's are sctaered among city's rather than one so it regulary doesn't beat specific city build orders) ,i would propose to decide this matter on a national matter ,preferably on initiatif of the president ,but can constructed otherwise.

for ex.

It would go this way:
The president would open a thread onto suggestion on what wonder(s) to build ,and then he decide's in wich city's to build them. His decission would override the current construction decission of the people for the city he decide's to build a wonder in.We could also move up the current build order for that city for when the wonder is completed but since wonder building can take time ,and there can happen a lot in that time this wouldn't be opportune IMO.

It doesnt has to be in this system ,so we can discuss this. But i think it may be interresting to move the wonder building part to the national level ,hence this proposal and discussion thread ,wich may lead to a poll.

Good idea, but this poll would have to be carefully planned, because citizens would want information about EVERYTHING in the empire before making such decision. This poll would need support from all ministers, to post information about their respective areas. Also, the governors would have to post the city status of all cities, since it isn't necessary to make a production poll for every city every turn.

but the president should include all of the wonders then

but in whole i think this is a good idea if we want any wonders to be built, just remember to inform us of wich city it`s in, and also a poll wether or noth the wonder should be built in the suggested city

example: pres. wants to build magellans in Unknowncity, he should then post a simple yes or no pol on wether or not we should build it in that city

or the president could pick a few cities and we could vote on wich one of them to build it in (dont forget to mention estimated building time, growthrate etc...)

Very good point. We could let the votes of the people on wonder's overide the current city poll's.That way the pres still is the intitial force after the project (and he is best informed on the need of wonder building) but the democratic part stays there.

Still we need a flexible system in how to decide on wich wonder's to build and how much wonders to build.

Since I felt that this type of "National Building Decision" might fall under the Internal Ministry, I tried to post a poll regarding the overall building of Wonders.

I actually just bumped it, so I'm sorry that this discussion may be going on in two threads at the same time. Here's the link to the poll:

I am in total agreement that with individual city polls, that city's immediate concerns will be addressed and not necessarily the concerns of the Nation. Wonder building sometimes means putting a single city "on hold" for a while for the good of the nation, and this is unlikely to get big votes when city prodution is the question.

Thus far in the poll, the leading idea is that the president could override some city decisions to be sure that a food cravan is being produced by at least one city in every province. Now, this is just discussion for the most part, and really only 9 have voted, but it does seem to point to a general feeling that if some city production is changed to help produce wonders for the national concern then it's OK with the majority. Only one vote against any sort of policy, but again only 9 have voted thus far.

Perhaps food caravans are the way to go. There are "0" votes for starting a city or two on a wonder for purposes of switching later. Food caravans will only put a city on "national wonder building" for the time it takes to build that caravan, and could conceivably be placed back on local concerns right after while another city then builds a caravan.

I definitely think that the president could be given pretty broad leeway in wonder building. If there are enough caravans, then he/she should be able to just pop up a vote along the lines of "We can build a wonder - which one should we build" (assuming that multiple ones are available) or "We have decided to build Sun Tzu's - which city should we build it in" (assuming that a speicific wonder has been decided).

So many important wonders are on the verge of becoming available. This is a good discussion to be having at this time. :goodjob:

Exelent work kev ,you anylised this matter and resolved it on a perfect way.Inventiveness is a important quality for a leader of the democracy game ,so is effectiveness.
You show yourself as quite a flexible leader. :goodjob:

Thank you for the kind words, Duck. Remember though, I'm only a "Deputy" leader for now as I'm just trying to fill in for our missing Hippo. I do apprecite what you wrote, though! :)

We are still relatively low on the vote count in that thread, but realistically I more or less wanted it to be a discussion. I think that I'll put up a proper one titled 3.2 that will hopefully grant the presidential wonder-building power in one form or another. This thread has also provided some key discussion as well, and hopefully it will allow us to move forward with this idea.

And thank you, Duck, for starting your various general discussions! :goodjob:
