DUDES, I have recently moved to a South Facing Cube at work with a big sunny window.

There's a ledge there that is just beggin' for a plant or two!

What good ideas do you have for plants?

RULES:
Perf's boss likes to run a pretty office, therefore plants must have aesthetic appeal
No Bansai
No Cacti
No Carnivorous plants
No Controlled Substances
Nothing huge, plant + pot shouldn't take more then 1 or 2 cubic feet.

Why no cacti?

If this is near a window that would be open at some point, then you can't go wrong with marigolds. Most bugs hate the smell of them, so they're ideal for keeping pretty much anything except for bees and butterflies away from whatever you put them near. They're also very pretty flowers.

French Marigolds are the ones I've always used around my garden:

Why no cacti?
Because they suck.

@Cheezy, I dunno about big flowering things, 'cuz I do have mild pollen allergies, so that might not be so good.

Maybe some type of crawling vine? They are non-flowering but they look cool.

I don't think vines would work well in an office environment.

Venus fly trap, totally. For those moments when you just want to say "pleased to eat you".

I was about to suggest that, but the rules are no carnivorous plants :(
Man, eating spiders shouldn't count. The only thing that really ought to be a "carnivorous plant" is Audrey Jr.

succulents allowed?

If no, i'd give a shout out for Orchids

Euphorbia milii: It's a little like a cactus, but it's not technically one. It flowers year round and doesn't need much water.

No, venus fly traps are ugly, and difficult to care for (especially in an office environment where people keep touching it).
