PTW gets stuck!

I just noticed I posted this one in the wrong forum, will repost it here and hope the other one will be deleted by the mods.

Right now I have the impression that "1.27f" means 1.27 f*ckd. A more appropiate name would have been "1.27 Stuck", but who I am to say such things but a frustrated civ-addict?

After loading I just go for 3 turns, and when its the computer's turn it just gets stuck. i get the clock pointer, and "please wait" but i cant clic on anything. Pressing ctrl+alt+del, it says "not responding", and CPU usage 100%. But i cant understand that, because my system has more than enough for the basic requirements.

At times i also got strange screen moves. Like, in a split of a sec, i would see all the cities. So.. maybe the game is bugged or my computer is crazy, or its the disc's scratches, which cant be cuz while you are playing, the cd is not on the read. And before you ask, no, it's not a pirated disc! At another time.. my settings wouldnt save.

I installed 1.21f, but then it froze after 5 opponent turns. I installed 1.27 and then it froze to the 1st opponent turn. I reinstalled and rebooted half a dozen times.

Anyone out there who might know how to fix this?

This just happened to me, I was doin good too, and it just stopped responding, it also locked up my computer. PTW sucks.

Hmm,

I've had that a few times, as it turned out, it was a huge map with lots of units on it and the computer just took a few minutes to complete his thinking. I only noticed because instead of rebooting a fourth time I went to make a cup of tea, and when I came back the game was ok. Now I have a slow, buggy, badly installed laptop on which I run it, but try if it does not just take long.

On the other hand, one has heard occasional rumors of programs just crashing in Win*before ...

Just installed patch 1.27from official site, am at 270AD going into the next turn, have just entered the Industrial age (though I never saw the intro screen), am in anarchy, and the game is stuck.

I have just concluded lux/lux tech deal. I'm playing as Korea.

I load from 270AD save. Sticks going into the next turn.
I reload from auto save - still sticks going into the next turn.

Can no longer play.

I think I my be waiting for the next patch, else throw away PTW.
