Hello

I want to know more information about game. Can someone tell me any political stuff in the game? I am not sure...but you have Voting System right? does it apply to all leaders when you play the game? or you have to choose specific leader like USA to get voting system? What's the advantage of voting system, what does it do? Any other political stuff in the game?

Thanks

Merry Christmas ;)

Umm... I'm not sure where you heard about a voting system for leaders. Each country usually offers you a choice of two leaders (you choose one).

The voting system you are talking about could relate to certain wonders, such as the UN or Apostolic Palace. In these places several leaders vote on certain ordinances (for example to sign open borders with all countries). The wonders operate differently, so I can't get really specific here. One advantage of having one or more of these wonders is that you have a chance of winning a certain type of victory; a diplomatic victory.

As far as other political stuff, that would relate to diplomacy. When playing you have the option of interacting with other leaders (single player: computer/multiplayer: human (obviously)). When interacting with other leaders you have options such as allowing open borders (your units can travel through countries which you have signed open borders with and vice versa); you can trade resources, even cities; you can tell other leaders to declare war on certain countries and stop trade with others, etc. Not all diplomatic options are available all the time, and sometimes another leader doesn't want to talk to you (usually after agreeing with another country to stop trade with that country, or during war time).

I hope this has helped.

Merry Christmas to you too :)

In addition to what's been mentioned with diplomacy and the UN, etc, much of the political environment in Civ is based on your Civics. The civic combo's you choose are designed to simulate a governmental political system, though they do this by providing bonuses and costing upkeep.

In my opinion this is the most political game I have ever played, matched only by the Europa Universalis games. I tend to do a little roleplay in my head whil I play CivIV where I use player score as a measure of leadership. Higher scoring civs are seen as having more leadership. This makes sense because the higher scoring civs tend to have more influence in the way of power and vassalage. It is they who spearhead world wars or have the pull to force peace. Combined with the previously mentioned politics of the game this score/leadership system creates natural hierarchies. For example, the highest scoring player having the Jewish religion is the "leader of the Jews," or the top 3 or 5 scoring civs are the "world council," or civilizations that are mostly friendly with high scoring civs are "elitist" while civs being mostly friendly with low scoring civs are "populist." Frequently I find myself playing games where there is a "Jewish elitist aristocracy," the top civs are all Jewish and trades and alliances are made between them... in effect keeping the other religions and civs down.

As you can see there are ample opportunities for politics in this game. In addition to those politics mentioned by the others, the relations system and religion deserve honorable mention. CivIV has a fairly complex relations scoring system so that, for example, a civ you have long traded with might have a +2 to +4 bonus to their relations for "trade negotiations being fair and forthright." There are many others. Also, because religion effects this relation system there is a realistic distribution of power and politics based on civs religions.

I am a big fan of politics in games, so if anyone knows of other games that have complex politics like CivIV and EUIII please let me know. Happy civin!:king:
