Does anyone have any tips on good diplomacy? It seems that every other civ is always annoyed with me. The only thing that seems to *barely* increase my standing is to give them everything I have.

What is the best strat for being a great politician and winning diplomatically?

Thanks in advance.

Trading frequently seems to keep your relations from deteriorating too. I usually trade maps every 10 turns. This is easy to get into the habit of doing if you pick a year that ends in a nice round number. I usually pick xx50. By trading every 10 years, when a 20 year trade for one of your luxuries ends, you will be able to look at the treasury of the other civ and see if they can pay more for it right away, rather than continuing a deal for far less than you could be getting when the old one expires.

Each turn, I contact all leaders to see if they have anything new for me to buy or trade. Usually, I just say "we would like to propose a deal" and then say "never mind".

Does anyone know if this starts to annoy them and, therefore, worsens their attitude towards you? I have had attitudes go from gracious to polite and polite to annoyed over the course of a few turns and I don't know if this has something to do with it.

Soren Johnson said in a chat over at Apolyton that this had no effect on your relationship.
