As you know we're upgrading the QM due to the inclusion of BTS. We've heard complaints before in regards to the Gauntlet event of the Quattromaster and we're curious if you all had any complaints or suggestions in regards to the Gauntlet event. Currently you are required to submit just one valid Minor and Major to complete the event. This doesn't mean we have any intention of changing the event, just that we are curious as to your thoughts.

Note: This is in regards to the Quattromaster's Gauntlet event and not the gauntlets themselves.

It is already the single hardest part of the QM challenge, so making it harder while keeping the other events the same wouldn't make sense IMO.

I've got no complaints about it, other than that I'm currently 75th out of 101 in it. :mischief:

1. The Gauntlets are my favourite part of HoF and Quattromasters

2. The Gauntlets are the main mechanism for requiring at least something non-cheesey in your Quattromaster qualification (e.g. no modern space races or quechua rushes)

3. Quattromaster would be far too easy without the Gauntlet requirements.

I don't know if it's possible, but I'd like to see a reward to the later finish of a 2 man gauntlet. As it stands, an overly difficult gauntlet with only two finishers penalizes the second no matter how good/bad the date is. Of course I don't think this has happened very frequently in the history of the gauntlet itself...

I would like to see some additional reward to people that participate in several (4+) Gauntlets. If you already have four decent Gauntlet Qscores with relatively large map sizes and high difficulty levels, there is no point in competing in Gauntlets on smaller map sizes or lower difficulty levels, because not even a 1st place would improve your QM Gauntlet score.

Maybe Gauntlet score shouldn't depend on the settings, just on your final position?

hey, don't change the rules when I'm playing :p!
I barely managed a major, don't come and tell me you need 2 of those.

I'm just a handful of games away from QM, so please don't change now...

Just so you know, we are looking at implementing an Elite Quattromasters Challenge. We will leave the existing Quattromasters out there for continuity, plus adding BTS Victory Conditions, Maps, and Civs. Edit: The existing QM with Expansion dropdown (with Vanilla&Warlord or All three) is out there now.

The Elite QM will limit the entries included based on some of the things discussed in the HOF Cheese Annex thread. (Just a little tease for now, we are still working on it. :mischief: )

Anyway, the question about Gauntlet relates to that. Right now we are considering still including it pretty much as-is except for possibly lowering it's weighting to 15%. That said, any thought about the gauntlet in that context?

I'm always thinking on it as well. Sometimes a 6th pos. means more than a 1st place.

I can't play too often majors since there aren't too much of them what can improve my QM score.

I can't really do anything with the minors either. They seems easy, but I always on the lotth position on the table, since I have no XP in easier diffs advantages. So in that point of wiew, always playing above prince is a disadvantage, but it is useful to rookie players for having relatively good positions.

If you lower it's weighting to 15%, you get an overall 90% score. Can you make CFC postcount the remaining 10%? :mischief: (I know, I know, it just means that all the categories are equally weighted...)

Nice timing reworking the QM table right after I added it to my sig, though. Now excuse me while I update it again.

Edit: You know come to think of it, even after lowering its weighting to 15%, each Gauntlet game (or pair of games) counts for double what the TempiTrophy games do, four and a half times what the Machiavelli and Inferno games do, eight and a half times the MapQuest games, and seventeen times as much as the League of Nations games (setting aside that games may count toward several different slots). Four really solid Gauntlet games (and all other QM requirements being near-zero Q-scores) on their own are enough to get you halfway up the QM scoring list, so it could probably do with a slight bit of nerfing.

I agree, let the gauntlets a requirement for QM, perhaps 2 minor and 2 major instead of 1?
And maybe use the score of 4 pairs of gauntlets instead of 2, this will encourage more people to participate.

Noticed the change in the quattromaster rankings and so on.
Went on "my submissions" page to check my status after those changes, and noticed the "quattromaster" page has been removed.

I hope it's only to adjust it to the new options.

Sorry, but i auto-elected myself as the main bug-reporter of the HoF.

Yes, the 'My Submissions/Quattromaster' tab was moved. We're not getting rid of it, just locating it elsewhere once the updates are done. We apologize for the inconvenience.

We moved it. There is now a "Status" tab on the QM Page now that has the same info.

:shake: We'll raise the others to 17% each.

Well, technically you are are the 26th ranked Quattromaster (Vanilla&Warlords). :) Just change the expansion dropdown and all will be as it was. :p

BTW, this bar isn't that high. Just status quo. Just wait for the Elite levels. :mischief:

Is participation in Elite going to be limited to QM's (or high-ranked QM's) or will it simply be gauntlet with settings that make for a more challenging game on average?
