I´m in a game right now and just got the task to take the holy city. I´m at war with Montezuma (Suprise) and he got the holy city for my religion....

Now my problem is that it will take a long time to take he´s holy city (thats he´s capital) so i would like to know what the reward is ?

If it nothing big ill settle for peace with him now, though if it is very good, ill consider going for it :)

Any one know what the bonus is ?

No, are you sure you are not getting mixed up with the holy mountain quest?

There is no benefit in taking a holy city, other than the financial benefits of that religion being spread around the world and the income that comes off the back of that.

Yes I´m sure. It pups up like any other quest.

I´ve posted the SS of the even, though i can´t get the extra text from holding the curser at the quest on the screenshot...

It doesn´t say anything about the possible bonuses....

It's still early in the game, it looks like you might have Iron. Get a bunch of axemen and swordsmen with CR and/or shock and rush him!!!!!

The full event and quest list is here with thanks to Ori

    http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=236727

    The quest is

    Quest9:
    Crusade
Prereq: State religion but you do not control the Holy City
    Obsolete: None
    Active/Weight: 50/1000
    Aim:
Declare War on the owner of the Holy City, stay in war until you conquer the Holy City
    Result:
1.get 0.5*default number of players for this world size+1 conscript units (4 for standard)
2.build the shrine for your state religion
3.spread your state religion to default number of players for this world size cities (6 for standard)

The result #3 could be very useful if you are pursuing the Apostolic victory and can freely spread your state religion to 6 players.

Ah, I stand corrected. It may be because I am the one who has all the religions in my games! :p ;)

I believe this quest is bugged and the game will say that you failed when you complete the objectives so right now it's not worth doing.

It supposed to be fixed in the forthcoming patch.

In my experience, it's always worth snuffing out Monty. The sooner the better.

Quest: Kill Montazuma because he's Monty the Nutty
    Rewards? None.
Benefit? No Monty in rest of game.
Risk? Only if he has a tech whore friend...

Yeah, it's bugged. I completed this quest, and didn't get anything. No message offering me rewards or anything, but no notification of failure either.

The quest just dissappeared from the quest list... and thats all that happened....

I also had this quest, and completed it to get a big fat nothing...

Luckily I was already at war with the holy cities owner, so it wasn't too far out of my way... (Plus he capitulated after his capital fell).
