Question About Farms and Nutrients

I'm a relatively new player to SMAC, but I started playing for the first time in a while. I built some farms, but looking at the city screen, it doesn't seem like they're doing anything. The square gave 2 nutrients before, and after the terraforming was completed, it says it gives 2 nutrients now, when I think it should be giving 3. This is the very start of the game.

Does anyone know what's going on?

Hi fdrpi,

there are tech prerequisites to unlocking higher nutrient, mineral, and energy yields. In order to get more than 2 nutrients from a square its Gene Splicing, IIRC.
