Question about modding

hello, i'm new to modding units.

What are the basic restrictions for modding. Such as the unit limit in Civ 2.

If i get a modded unit (say the japanese kamikaze) will it replace any of the units previously in place? or will it ADD to the base of units in the game.

I guess my question is the same for Civs. Do "new" user-created civs add to the collection or replace old ones?
 
You can do either: you can either replace an existing unit/civ/technology/resource with a new one, or you can put in new ones in addition to the existing units. With the new patch there is supposedly no limit to the number resources or units you can add. I think the limit for new technologies is 81 and the limit for new civs is 15.
 
actually according to the readme, though I have yet to test this, it is quite possible that there may be an unlimited number of techs as well.

You may be able to add an unlimited number of techs, but they disabled the Rename, Cancel, a (add)/d (delete) function. What's the point of unlimited anything if the editor won't let you add it? This is almost the only thing wrong with the new patch.
