Question about patches

Quick question, folks...

After lots of research and soul searching, I've decided that the unofficial patch would probably be a good thing to download (yeah, I'm slow! )

My question with this patch (and mods/patches in general) is - my understanding is that ANY unofficial patch (or, any patch other than official 3.13) will prevent you from playing multiplayer. Is this true? Or is it simply that all parties must be using the same patch - i.e., two players with Bhruic's patch could still play MP, assuming the same versions, etc?

All parties must be using the same mods (as any unofficial patch is) for multiplayer.
So as long as your opponents are playing the same game, then you can play against them.

Cool, thank you - I guess that removes my last reason for hesitation on downloading the unofficial patch, assuming I can get the folks I plan on playing MP with to download it as well...
