So, theirs all the bunk about, hey, if you drink a bunch of water its good for you all around, like, your skin glows. And stuff. But what if you drink soda as well, would they negate each other, or would you still get all the positive effects of drinking water?

I don't know about glowing skin but you would still be hydrated with water and soda. Soda is liquid too ain't it?

Ya but im talking about still maintaining all of the positive benefits of water drinking as well. Not just hydration.

...skin glows?

Not in the radioactive sense.

Don't believe everything you read somewhere on the internets or hear told by someone..

Or my own damn eyes, apparently.

Humans are notoriously at making these sorts of correlations, it wouldn't be prudent to accept your claims without some sort of scientific evidence.

Water is good for hydration, I don't know if it makes one's "skin glow" though. I don't see how soda could negate any effect, other than making one fat because of all the sugar(or HFCS) in them.

Pop (what the civilized world calls soda) typically contains caffeine, which is a diuretic.

Its not so much that water is so good for you as that other drinks contain various things that if consumed in large enough quantities are bad for you. An occasional soda (pop is a dumb name) wouldn't have a huge effect, but just drinking water in addition to the soda you would normally drink wouldn't do much although it could make you need to urinate more to flush some of the bad stuff out if you had enough I suppose). Of course, enough water can be bad for you too, but it takes a lot.

All of the sugars and carbonation in soda can be bad for your teeth if you drink a lot of it. In addition, if you drink a lot of soda(or just consume a lot of sugary substances in general) you can develop diabetes and/or gain weight. Aside from that, I'm unaware of any negative health effects from drinking soda.

One thing of note, water is very important to flush all of the impurities out of your system. You should drink enough every day so that your urine is clear. If it's yellow, you're not drinking enough. The clearer it is, the better, though you should aim for it being completely clear. Other drinks are no substitute either. This is probably the biggest mistake, people drink juice, soda, coffee, or whatever instead of water. You need to drink water, and lots of it.

Soda can inhibit calcium absorption, or so I've heard. Water won't cancel that out.
